It wasn’t funny, Maximilien didn’t even think it could be classified as a joke—but Camille’s grin and light giggles rang about the overgrown garden and twisted through the blades of grass sticking out from the glistening snow and Maximilien felt as though he was letting the strange boy in front of him down by not joining in on his mirth.

“Yeah?” Bucky asked. He loosened his grip on Peter’s shoulder, but didn’t take his hand away.
“My back still hurts sometimes,” Peter explained quietly. “But that might be because of the swinging. Hard to find a strong enough chiropractor to crack it, you know? Maybe… maybe two thousand tons of concrete would do it, though.” Bucky leveled his gaze at the kid. Peter looked back at him, swallowing hard.
“Let’s call that Plan B, okay?” Bucky suggested.
“Yeah, okay,” Peter mumbled.

Or, Peter gets caught in the collapse of a parking garage with a (mildly) concussed Bucky Barnes, and has a nice get-to-know-you sesh with our favorite super soldier while waiting for Tony to find a safe way get them out. That’s exactly how Satoru finds her when he bursts through the door. It swings hard enough to smack against the wall. Shoko jolts, rising half out of her chair before she realizes who it is.
“What the fuck, Satoru?!”
“I’m pregnant," he says, placing a hand over his stomach. Shoko stares at him. Then laughs. Hard enough to bend at the waist, a hand coming up to wipe her hair out of her face.
“Shoko.” Satoru’s voice breaks, crumbling on the last letter of her name. It shuts her up, makes the laughter die as she looks at him.
“You aren’t kidding?”
Satoru shakes his head, clutching at the fabric of his loose sleep shirt. Shoko approaches him slowly, eyes trained on his hand like she’s trying to see the proof.
“How do you know?”
Breath stuttering, Satoru smiles, “I saw it.”
