Summary
What if when the snap happened, Shuri stayed, but Ramonda and T’Challa all gone. During the five years, Shuri becomes queen of Wakanda, Namor shows up to make an alliance with them, Wakanda becomes an isolationist nation again, Shuri recreates the heart-shaped herb with a plant from Talokan, becomes the Black Panther, and Namor and Shuri become close.
Then everyone returns.
Wakanda struggles to adjust. Half the population has returned, including the Queen mother & true king. T’Challa sees how the elders, the people, the Dora, the Talokanil, & their king react to Shuri. While Shuri insists that she does not want to rule, it seems like most people who remained wish she would continue to rule Wakanda.
Talokan’s alliance with Wakanda is fragile as their king and people favor Shuri. Namor has little respect for T’Challa, and the king of Wakanda feels similarly.
Shuri is trying to hold her family, her nation, their alliance with Talokan, & her relationship with Namor together. But the issues just within their nations and interpersonal relationships threaten the peace she desires.

"Happy to be of service," Hayden bowed, and Shane laughed, just as the door clicked open again behind him.
"Who is this?" A deep voice asked abruptly, in an accent that Shane dimly noticed sounded Russian.
"Our new roommate, Rozanov," Hayden rolled his eyes with a long-suffering sigh. "I literally told you about him last night."
Shane turned to see one of the most attractive men he'd ever seen in his life standing a foot away from him.
Realizing he'd been staring for a moment too long, Shane stuck out his hand. "I'm Shane Hollander."
The young man appraised him with disinterest for several seconds before saying, "Okay."
Shane dropped his hand, his face burning.
"Shane, this is Ilya Rozanov, but everyone just calls him Rozanov," Hayden exhaled. "And he is my asshole roommate of two years, going on three, and now one of your roommates.”
Rozanov smirked. “You are mad I get my own room while you share with him.”
“Oh, fuck off, Rozanov,” Hayden retorted. “Unlike you, I have friends, and one of them is Shane.”
“I have friends,” Rozanov dismissed.

Shane had trouble looking away from his lips. His cheeks felt inexplicably hot, and he forced his gaze back to the horizon. The day was clear enough to see all the way to the sea.

Shane felt a chill run down his spine.
He hadn’t thought anyone would notice. In truth, he’d barely noticed himself. It wasn’t something he was actively doing. It wasn’t like his weight circuit or his diet or his night routine. It wasn’t meditation or yoga or cross-training. Those were all things he did with meticulous, painstaking purpose. This was just… this was something else. This wasn’t thought driven. If he was being honest, it barely had to do with hockey. It maybe was one of the only things in his life that didn’t have to do with hockey. If he was stressed, he wore the shirt and it made him feel a little bit better. It just so happened that most of the time he was stressed about something to do with hockey. That was it. It was just a feeling.
A feeling of calm that came from Ilya Rozanov’s shirt.

“You have no idea who your parents really are, do you?” the Russian asked seriously after a few minutes passed of them staring at one another, though it was really more Shane glaring and heaving while Ilya calmly observed him with an unsure glint in his eye.
“I have no idea what I’m doing here and what you want with them. If this is some kind of stupid business dispute, I have bad news for you, asshole. I don't know about their business, I don’t even know what their business is, and I’ve never been involved in their business,” Shane seethed as slowly as he possibly could so Ilya could understand that he genuinely had no idea of what was going on. “Now will you please untie me and take me home? I don’t even care if you knock me out again, just fucking let me go!”
Ilya set the glass down to the side of him on the black leather cushion and rose from his seat, unfolding gracefully until he was towering over Shane with cool indifference. He bent slightly, leaned in close enough to Shane’s face that he could smell the vodka the Russian man had been drinking, then said easily, “I think I will keep you, actually.”

“Um,” says Shane. “What?”
Rozanov gestures between the two of them, almost impatient. “I can pretend to date you for a bit to please the monkeys in the circus. Everybody thinks we are dating now, anyway, so we might as well use it. And paparazzi are stupid. Even though Scott Hunter is a prick, he is a prick that does not deserve this kind of negative attention.” He shrugs, almost casual, and looks Shane up and down. “Plus, am into boys as well as girls. Is honestly not a problem for me.”
or: Shane digs himself quite a big hole, and now everyone believes he is dating none other than Ilya Rozanov. This would be no problem if he and Ilya 1) were indeed dating and 2) could actually stand each other.
