Summary
When Eddie comes out as gay, he assures Steve that he doesn’t find him hot. Steve tells him it’s fine, he even teasingly asks what he should do to change that. It becomes a thing. A way to always make Eddie laugh, blush and relax around him—but as the days and weeks pass, Steve begins to realise that maybe there’s another reason why he cares so much that Eddie Munson finds him pretty.

“Everything okay?” Will asked softly. El was silent for a few moments, then a hand pushed its way out from under the blanket and displayed a thumbs down. Will frowned. “Was it the kids at school again? That girl…Angela or whatever her name is?”
El gave him a thumbs up and Will sighed. “Anything I can do?” he offered.
El didn’t answer for almost an entire minute, and Will was beginning to think that she hadn’t heard his question, but then he heard El’s quiet voice, muffled from the blanket covering her.
“Nails.”

When a girl Steve’s trying to flirt with starts flirting with Eddie, Steve says the only thing that comes to mind: he tells her Eddie’s married. It’s not his smoothest moment, but it works, and Eddie goes along with it. It's not like Eddie was interested, anyway, and he figures Steve wanted the ladies to himself. So, Steve figures that must be it, too.
But a little later it hits him: he doesn’t want to keep the ladies to himself. He wants to keep Eddie to himself.

Steve, who has just ripped through the tape binding his wrists in an impressive feat of strength, freezes mid movement. His nostrils flare and Eddie can practically see the moment it clicks for him, even before his eyes flick down.
“Wait a second,” he mutters, and then his eyes are back on Eddie’s face, wide and panicked and disbelieving. “You are-”
“Pretty fucking hot when tied up?” Eddie rasps around an aching jaw, voice still hoarse with misuse. “Why, gee, who knew you were into that kinda stuff, Harrington?”
“Stop joking, that’s not what I meant!”
The command is sharp, and Eddie finds his jaw clenching shut against his conscious will. A red-hot flush is crawling up Steve's neck, but his face is full of serious concern.
“You're in heat,” he murmurs.

Billy wasn’t a stranger to being tied up.
He wasn’t a stranger to being tied up by Steve even.
In fact, it was a rarity now that he and Steve even did anything without some kind of bondage or restraint. And he wasn’t complaining about that, giving Steve complete control of his body was one of the few things that made him feel completely safe.
But today was different. Today Steve was being gentle for some reason. Ghosting his fingers up and down Billy’s body almost reverentially as he maneuvered him into place.
