Summary
Dean’s violent reaction to being unexpectedly woken has become something of a running joke among them, but Castiel can’t help but look past it to the underlying cause. It makes him ache to think that Dean feels so unsafe, so persecuted, before he’s even fully conscious.
Secretly, Castiel has been determined to work on that, to ease Dean into awareness in a less jarring way, smooth away one of the many stresses that follow him even in sleep. Now’s as good a time as any to try.

Summary
Dean works as a photographer for a prestigious NY travel magazine. He's not very excited when he's sent to Paris to work on an article about the world's famous cities -- the trip would probably be unbearable if it weren't for Cas, an American guy working at a café who moved to Paris several years ago. It's Cas who helps Dean with his project, and opens his eyes to love.

Summary
Dean’s extended period of self-discovery and inner reflection, of addressing all those fleeting little notions of his that maybe weren’t so little or fleeting after all, had culminated in one inescapable, terrifying fact.
He’s in love with Cas. Hopelessly, completely, embarrassingly in love with him.
They’ve just never had what they needed to explore this before, never had time, solitude, a real moment to breathe.
But they have it now, Dean thinks. He’s made damn sure of that.

Summary
When Dean had first started planning that long sought-after beach vacation, this wasn’t what he had in mind.
Things are different now. It’s just him and Cas, as in him and Cas, all the unspoken longing finally pulled to the surface, actual acknowledgment that whatever ‘profound bond’ they had couldn’t accurately be described as mere friendship. Now it’s… official.

Castiel mulls over his response, eventually circling back to his first instinct. “Is… that a trick question?”

Summary
Dean was never able to give Sam the birthday parties he wanted when they were kids, and he can't even remember if he was ever invited to somebody else's. Probably not.
He's got no idea what to expect.
That's why he's secretly relieved when Jody asks if he can help her out in the kitchen. Dean loves cooking, and a kitchen is a place he knows his way around, even when it's not his own. Jody had sounded almost comically grateful when he said yes immediately, but other than that she doesn't seem to think the whole thing is such a big deal. But for Dean, it is. Birthday parties are a thing normal people do, and Dean isn't normal people. He sucks at those things. He doesn't want to mess it up for Claire.
So, Dean's kind of nervous.
Cas, though, Cas is worse.

Summary
When Dean, the Viking jarl of Týrvik, leaves on a raid to combat the enemy warriors attacking their ships, his husband Castiel is left to protect and lead the village. The ships return barely a week later, with damaged timbers and a devastated, leader-less crew, and suddenly Castiel finds himself not only in a position of leadership for which he is ill-equipped, but terrified for the safety of his captured husband.
With the possibility of a spy somewhere in the village’s midst, Castiel leaves his people under Sam’s care and departs on the journey north to where they think Dean is being held, in a desperate attempt to rescue him before it’s too late.

Summary
Freedom is just one adjustment after the next.
~~~
Cas hums again. "I think you already have. It's been months since everything settled. All that's left to do is...get used to it, and perhaps—" His voice stalls out, uncharacteristically, and his gaze roams Dean's face with intensity. When he speaks next, his tone is a little raw. "Perhaps what one does with peace is...whatever they want."
"What if I don't even know what that is?" Dean grumbles, arching an eyebrow in challenge. "'Cause I know damn well you don't just mean good food and a good bed and time in Baby, not simple wants like that. You mean—ya know, the big things, the wants we didn't get to have before."
"Yes," Cas agrees. "If you're not sure, figure it out."
"Easier said than done."
Summary
First, before anything, there was want.
In one version of this story, Dean Winchester hasn't stopped moving since the day his father died. He hunts across the country but always comes back to California with the half-hearted hope of visiting Sam at Stanford, and an endless, restless, ceaseless pull to the desert.
In one version of this story, Dean Winchester finds himself in the scorched heat of a Death Valley summer, on a hunt for a ghost. Or a purpose. Or an answer to the question that’s been tugging at his tendons for as long as he’s lived.
In one version of this story, all Dean Winchester has ever done is want, and all Castiel has ever done is wait.
