As it turns out; the last conversation between Richie and Eddie wasn’t exactly clear, and Richie didn’t communicate where about he was moving to. They’re suddenly both 16 and in college, but unbeknownst to them they are in the same one.

Terrain that is somehow more familiar to Edwin than the paths he’s carved through Hell. “What I meant is, I’m not ever gonna be, like, in love with you. Romantically. I just—” His inhale is a juttering scrape of breath excavated from deep inside, and Edwin feels it as though it is his lungs that draw it in. “I love you, Edwin. I’ve always loved you. And after you confessed in Hell, I thought—well, I thought what I felt for you had to change. But it didn’t, and it won’t. I’m never gonna have a romantic notion towards anyone in the entire world, and I love you, and it’d be aces to kiss you.”

The concept he had of Miles Morales was fairly simple, a kid who had a rough start on the whole spider-man thing, he lost someone, he learned how to be comfortable on his own skin and how to fill the suit, just one more of them.
But he's not, that's the thing.
He's not like Miguel, or Jessica, he's not even like Gwen or Peter B.
There's something about him that instantly draws Hobie's attention. It's the way he fights, how he moves, that even if everyone's against him, he stands for what he believes in.

Or; a chat with Gwen proves productive when Hobie learns a few things about Miles Morales. Since then, flirting and getting to know the guy becomes kind of a priority to him.

After everything had settled, Miles saved his dad, the Spiders defeated the Spot; Miles was left torn. He couldn’t help but wonder if they’d come back. If the others Spider’s would come back and visit him, or would it be a repeat of the last time? He’s at war with himself, wanting to trust them, wanting to be hopeful in Hobie and the homemade multiversal watches. But, they avoided him the first time. Was Miguel right? Was he a multiversal accident? After three weeks of absolute radio silence, Miles can’t help, but think that the negative part of himself was right. Until none other than Hobie Brown himself pops straight into his universe. And Miles left grappling with navigating this new him.
Slow burn, Miles has a big crush but also big trauma. He’s naturally trying his best with the help of some unlikely advice.
