Christmas was approaching in the Pitt and Dennis already knew he wouldn't be celebrating. He dealt with enough at work given his inappropriate work crushes, familial guilt, and general want for the season to be over. Trinity refused to let him skip and so Dennis is pulled into the Secret Santa. Only problem? Dennis pulled half of the married couple who won't stop touching him.

It starts with a postcard on his windshield two days after he turns 18. It's simple, just a stock photo on the front....but on the back...well, that's a different story.
Lila, 12 hours.
He frowns at it, looks around, doesn't see anyone who could have left it, no one staring at him furtively to see if he's grabbed it, no one rushing away, so he doesn't give it another thought.
Until he meets Lila at a bar one night when he's out with friends.
They have a crazy night together but it's just a one night stand. Buck still doesn't think anything of the postcard and why would he? It was a weird coincidence, that's all.
Except they keep coming.
Or: Soulmate AU wherein Buck receives postcards with the name of the next person he's going to date with how long that relationship is going to last...but when he receives one with Tommy's name on it and no time limit, he has to figure out what that means.

“I… I never told you my name.”
“I didn’t need you to. Who could forget King Steve?” Ah, so that’s why he was vaguely familiar. He must’ve gone to school with him. Which means the image of Steve this guy probably had in his head was… yikes.
“Ugh, don’t call me that.” Steve did not need to be reminded of his high school days.
“His majesty doesn’t like his royal title?” The barista set his elbows on the counter and plopped his head into his hands.
“No, not really. Not anymore, at least.”
“Hmm.” The barista hummed in consideration and stood back up, “Well, enjoy, Harrington.”
“Um, thanks…” Steve finally took note of the nametag on the barista’s apron, “Eddie.”Set in season 3, Eddie and Steve both work at the Starcourt Mall and maybe fall in love along the way.

“Especially now,” Sal agreed with sadness in his voice. Lucy shut her eyes. “It’s dickish, and Kinard would probably break my nose for meddling, but I refuse to do this again. He’s in a good place right now, and Buckley is jumping feet first into extremely choppy waters. If the stars align and they find themselves back in each other’s orbit, then fine. They’re big boys and can do what they want. But I am not going to be the one to kick the can back down the road. Those two assholes have to figure it out for themselves.”
Buck transfers into the 122, under the captaincy of Sal Deluca. Sal and Lucy make the decision to not tell Tommy this detail.

“You know that's not the point,” She then mumbles more so to herself than to him, “Lord, he said this would be a fight, he just didn't say I would be the one fighting it.”
Or; weeks after Bobby's death Buck is facing a team that still treats him like he's fragile, a best friend that's taking his home back, and feeling more lost than he ever has. One of Bobby's last gifts to him is a way out and forward, so Buck takes it. He just doesn't necessarily tell everyone where he's going.

Summary
“Well,” Thomas chuckles, a beautiful sound if Buck has ever heard one. He wants to hear that sound again. “I tell people that it dislocated when I was stopping a helicopter from falling off a building, you know, like Captain America.” Thomas flexes his muscles then, showing off his thick arms, which Buck has the strangest urge to bite. “But I actually just lost a game of tug of war with my dog.”
That startles a laugh out of Buck’s mouth, and he turns to see Thomas grinning at him. Buck feels almost trapped under his gaze. Thomas is staring at him in a way he can’t decipher, his nose scrunching up in a way that has Buck’s heart beating at a perfectly normal pace (if normal is trying to win an olympic sprint).
“What about you?” Thomas asks, tilting his head slightly and gesturing towards his leg.
Buck thinks about telling him the truth. Saying he’s the firefighter that half the population saw getting crushed by a firetruck. But for right now, he doesn’t want to be seen as that guy. So instead, he simply says, “Crush injury.”
(Or Buck and Tommy meet at Physio after the truck bombing and grow closer and closer)
