This might be the first time Peter’s ever noticing it.
Everyone assumes Wade's incessant talking is a distraction tactic, or a form of torture, or simply to be a brat, even once the threat has been neutralized and they’re all winding down. But it isn’t. Peter recognizes it because he has the same thing, just presents in different ways.
It’s anxiety.

Summary
With the mutation, Peter’s body is a weapon. He’s learned to sharpen it in some parts and dull it in others, to use it in a way that helps instead of hurts. But with a body that was eager to turn on itself even before all the events of the past few years, he has to be extremely careful; it’s a weapon that could very easily be used against him.
Which is why no one, under any circumstances, can find out what his weak spots are.

Summary
Between one moment and the next Peter rips the thing off himself, and he’s never been so simultaneously certain and terrified of a decision. It feels necessary, given how he’s treated Wade in the past. Like Peter was better than him because he had a morally superior code of ethics. The mask was like a wall that Wade hadn’t earned the right to see behind yet.
But that was all pretending. Making himself feel better. It was never Wade’s job to break down the bricks or to prove anything to Peter; it was Peter’s to stop acting like the line between him and Wade wasn’t already paper thin.
Maybe that’s why Wade had scared him so badly in the past. Like looking into a mirror.
