Jabber whistles appreciatively, "Man, you're in a mood today. Wake up on the wrong side of the bed?" and cackles at his own joke. Zanka's gonna strangle him. He's gonna rip out those bars with his bare hands and use them to beat Jabber to death.

Zanka had not meant to steal from Jabber Wonger.
Not at first.
It was supposed to be just a fight. A dirty, brutal clash in the lower trash veins, all blood, poison, teeth, and bad angles.
Then Mankira got caught in the wall, Jabber stopped laughing, and Zanka saw the one line even a madman would not cross.
Jabber would break himself before he damaged her.
So when Assistaff scraped too hard, when one ring slipped loose from Jabber’s deadly hands, when Zanka felt that small warm circle fall into his palm—
He should have dropped it.
He should have returned it.
He should have told someone.
Instead, Zanka kept one piece of Mankira hidden against his body.
And Jabber notices hes missing a part of her.
Now Jabber has nine rings, one empty finger, and a growing obsession with finding out exactly where Zanka is keeping what he stole.
Zanka calls it evidence.
Jabber calls it theft.
Mankira calls it something worse.
And the lie only gets heavier the longer Zanka keeps her warm.

Its been perfect, aside from the fact that Grace was on borrowed time and his body was beginning to protest every movement he made. So, with Grace's health beginning to degrade beyond repair and after he made the mistake of showing Rocky the movie, Avatar, Rocky starts a secret project that has the potential to change everything.

It wasn’t gradual. It was a sudden plunge out of the floating sea, and he hadn’t been prepared for it in the slightest. He knew who he was, by logic, knew where he was—more or less, at least—but it did not matter, because for a few terrifying seconds he was a stranger in his own body, a phantom suddenly mortalised; it was impossible, but he felt as though he was suddenly keenly aware of each and every sinew, every tiniest capillary that worked to deliver blood to his appendages, of each squeeze of his arteries, every single secretion, heartbeat, cell death and replication—he was aware of it, part of it, his body not a cohesive structure and instead a colony like Rocky’s. He was one of the cells, communicating with the others through desmosomes, or through signals excreted, hormonal messages passed from one sector to the next. One in a million of workers, unimportant.
His fingers twitched again, and after a moment he realised that it was his conscious effort that led to the motion. Huh.

No longer actively dying, Grace has to face the reality of Earth after his return—and the loose ends that he did not consider he'd left there.

Jason used his big smart brain and calculated how much he could get from those wheels.
It was a very, very nice number.
Jason had only successfully removed the front left tire before someone behind him cleared their throat. Loudly.
Jason froze.
He’s been around enough people (people who were sick with a cold and people who worked within Gotham's underbelly) to identify the connotation of a throat being cleared. Someone with a bad case of post nasal drip didn’t announce to the world that they had mucus in the back of their throat. Someone who just caught their tires being stolen off of a very nice, clean car would want their presence known.
Jason was thankful for this method of being caught red handed as opposed to being beaten and left for dead.
However, his heart began to race as Jason turned around in what felt like slow motion.
His eyes widened almost comically.
Bruce Wayne was staring directly at him.

Summary
The man looks like he’s been through a meat grinder. Thick blood is slick in every nook and cranny. In his hair, his clothes, and some of it is still dripping out of his mouth. A mouth with… a tear in it and visible sharp teeth.
When Grace thinks about it, it’s unlikely he’s human. Earth is so far from here. No, this person is some kind of parallel evolution thing. But the building blocks of the origin of the Big Bang are the same after all, so it’s not impossible that something might evolve, independently of humanity that looks just as human all the way out here.
Regardless, it’s nice to know there is something in this corner of the universe that at least looks familiar.
//We go home now, question? Rocky would like to go home and clean ship.//
“Yeah, let’s go,” Grace nods. “Help me carry him in.”
