At least until firefighter Eddie Diaz enters the scene and ends up being the only one who manages to calm him down.
Eddie is 27 and a probationary firefighter at the 118. He lives in L.A. with his 7-year-old son, Christopher and he struggles with his relationship with his parents and his lack of friends after moving from Texas.
Despite his captain's advice, he doesn’t stop looking for Buck after they drop him off at the hospital and that means he gets so much more than a friend for life.

Buck smirks and sits down, biting his lip before questioning Eddie. “Do you, uh, have any idea where my t-shirt could have got to?” Eddie murmurs something that sounds like denial, but Buck continues anyway. “It’s just, well, if I knew where it was I could stop searching like a mad man and just accept that I’ll have to borrow one from work.”
Eddie doesn’t say anything for a moment then, quietly, “It might be here. With me.”
Buck thinks his heart might skip a beat and he has to force himself to breath normally. “And why would my shirt be with you in El Paso Eds?”
Eddie finally looks back at Buck, so Buck can see the bright blush that has sprung onto his cheeks. “I may have taken one from the loft. I didn’t think you were going to miss it.”-
