At least, until two years ago, when Johanna Hezenkoss became mayor and with her secret police, the Gloaming Watch and her top necromancer, Emmrich 'Volcarnage' Volkarin, absorbed three of the gangs while completely eradicating the fourth.The Grey's of Little Hossberg were the only gangs left to fight back, along with the scattered remaining members of the fallen gangs.
For over a decade, Zea 'Rook' Thorne has held nothing but hatred for Emmrich. Yet, recently his behavior towards her has become....alarming. Her own feeling towards the old necromancer had begun to change and she hated every minuet of it. But the two were powerless to stop the inevitable collide.

As if her musings conjured the brown haired wizard, Thea nearly collided with him on the path to the shops. He had come out of one of the tailor shops with a package under his arm, his dark brown linen coat being tugged on and his focus being elsewhere. He dropped the package to catch Thea’s arms and then dropped them with a curse.
“Zurgan,” he hissed a bit as bent down to grasp and inspect his package. “You might be more mindful of your surroundings, Anthea, lest you walk right off of a pier.”
Thea wrapped her arms around her middle and discreetly touched the place on her right arm where Rolan had grasped her for a moment. Then she lowered her hands to her sides before she shot a smirk at him.
“One could say the same of you, Rolan, what with your preoccupation with your precious package. Plus we aren’t near enough to the water for me to walk off a pier.”
Rolan grumbled with a roll of his eyes, the yellow hellish eyes flicking a bit towards the sky as if asking the Gods for patience. Still, even though it was obvious he was annoyed with her, he gestured for her to go ahead of him as they headed past the shop. His hand smoothing down his expertly coiffed hair as he waited.

“Did you know the physiological effects of fear and arousal are much the same?” He leaned closer, inhaling the eucalyptus scent of her hair. Rook tugged weakly on the door handle, but he held firm. Emmrich could practically feel the heat of her blush radiating, even from behind her. “Shallow breaths.” He ran two fingers up her spine, moving her heavy curls over her shoulder before pressing them to the pulse point just below her jaw. “Elevated heart rate.” The beat pounded below his fingertips perfectly as he tightened his grip on her neck and leaned closer to kiss the nape. A small whimper escaped her lips. He grinned against her skin. “Involuntary sounds.”
“Emm…” she whispered, trembling.
Emmrich used his grip on her throat to spin her to face him, caging her smaller body against the door. “Dilated pupils,” he observed. “My sweet Renya..." He enjoyed the way she had to crane her neck to look him in the eye. “When you learned that it was I who cornered you in the Necropolis all those years ago, did it change how you viewed the memory?” He leaned in to run his teeth along her delicately pointed ear. “Does it excite you now, little rabbit?”
