They had simply grown accustomed to being with each other all the time, which was a good thing considering their situation, but it didn’t mean that they liked it. L certainly didn’t.

Light doesn’t really know what he was expecting when he snapped at L a few nights ago. He knows what he hoped for; L realizing the error of his ways and expressing his contrition in the form of a generous donation to the tip jar on the counter; L keeping his shoes on next time (which should be a no-brainer, honestly); or, better yet, there not being a next time in the first place. But that was all just wishful thinking on his part. Even geniuses need to dream, sometimes.
