Eddie shifts around on the bed, settling his head back against Buck's pillow as he makes himself more comfortable. "Okay if I join you?"

Raising his eyes to the rest of the team, Eddie is surprised to find them all staring at him, jaws dropped in disbelief.
So much for warm support.
“What?” Hen finally asks, genuine confusion stamping her face.
“I'm bi,” he says again, more confident… or something like it. “I've been doing some soul searching since Nashville and…” he nods to himself, a shy smile stamping his face as he looks up to his team, “I guess I’m finally ready to share this with you guys.”
They, however, do not share in his whimsy.
“You're joking.” Ravi deadpans.
Or: Eddie comes out wrong—but luckily the rest of the 118 is there to drop kick him out of the closet.

Summary
Eddie feels the familiar creep of terror crawling up his spine, and his tears fall. He pulls back, angrily wiping them away as he turns on his heel, climbing back into his truck without another word. Buck calls after him, but he stays on the doorstep, watching while Eddie pulls out of the driveway, fleeing.
Maybe this is just what they do, he thinks hysterically.
They leave each other.

Summary
Eddie teaches at an MMA gym to make ends meet in LA while he waits to start the Fire Academy. Meanwhile, Buck needs an outlet that isn’t random hookups so he decides to give MMA lessons a try. Buck hates Eddie immediately, but he isn’t sure if it’s the way he’s so horribly perfect or if it’s the way he nitpicks and constantly critiques everything Buck does in the gym. Maybe Buck didn’t intend to goad the guy into a rough, dirty hook up in the empty gym, but he isn’t exactly complaining either. When Eddie freaks out and says he won’t teach Buck or see him again because they made a mistake and Eddie is straight…well. Buck just takes that as a challenge.

Eddie tugs his face into the curve of Buck's shoulder before he can lose the nerve, Buck's pulse fluttering wildly against the tip of Eddie's nose.

Buck scoots down and snuggles into the pillows, his lips still stretched in a tiny smile that makes Eddie’s heart flip for a whole different reason. “No, I’m okay. Thank you. But, uhm –”
“What is it?”
“Would you maybe sit with me for a little longer?”
Eddie makes a gentle sound in the back of his throat and immediately lowers his body into the chair he and Chim dragged into the bedroom a few days ago. “You don’t even have to ask, Buck. I’ll be here. You can go to sleep.”
“Thanks, Eds,” Buck says again, his voice breathy as his lashes flutter softly before he promptly falls asleep.
Sleep has been a rare occasion for Buck lately, the withdrawals making him sick and achy and despite the bone-deep exhaustion also restless and oftentimes too anxious to sleep. So, whenever he manages to get a few hours, Eddie and the others watch over him in sheer relief.
Or a 9x15 coda in which Eddie worries, watches over Buck, and stays the night.

“Chim is gonna be at the hospital for awhile. He asked me to handle shift transfer,” Eddie says casually.
Buck pauses mid-whisk. “He asked you?”
Eddie levels him with a stare. “I’m gonna pretend you don’t sound surprised before I get offended,” he says, voice flat.
“I’m not surprised!” Buck holds his hands up in surrender, the whisk dripping a traitorous stream of beaten egg onto the counter. “I just–y’know. Kinda figured he’d ask me.”
Chimney asking Eddie to handle shift transfer effectively makes him Interim Captain Diaz, and he is going to use his newfound power to annoy the shit out of Buck for as long as he possibly can.

Summary
Bobby Nash wasn’t sure what he had expected from his first foster child. Maybe he thought Evan would be some sort of teenage delinquent. Maybe the kid would think he was too old to be parented or be mean to May and Harry. Maybe he would run away or try to get moved to a different home. Maybe he would be nothing but trouble and make Bobby and Athena regret fostering in the first place. They should have just stuck to the plan and gotten a younger kid like Athena had wanted.
But what Bobby didn’t expect was for the social worker to show up at their house at nine o’clock at night. He didn’t expect for the kid by her side to simultaneously look way too young for 14 and at the same time so much older. Evan was curled in on himself, making him seem far smaller than he should be but the fear and wariness in his eyes was something far too mature for him. Bobby didn’t expect for his first foster child to stand there on his porch, shivering in the pouring rain with nothing but a sweatshirt and a blooming black eye on his face. But what he certainly didn’t expect was for the kid to worm his way into his heart so quickly.

“I didn’t even know you knew this bar here.”
“I don’t actually know the place, Maddie picked it. She, uhm, okay, don’t laugh, but she kinda forced me to go on a blind date here tonight?”
“A blind date. Here. Tonight?” Eddie sounds almost incredulous?
“Uhm, yeah? She was weirdly pushy about the whole thing and she wouldn’t take no for an answer but now I’m already incredibly late and the guy is probably about to leave any –”
“Buck,” Eddie interrupts him, his dark, gorgeous eyes boring into Buck’s own. “What exactly did Maddie tell you about this guy?”
Buck huffs, now a little annoyed at Eddie’s insistent tone. “Nothing, really. She was just going on and on about how she’s sure this would be something good for me and that he would wait here for me with a wh –”
“– a whiskey sour in front of him,” Eddie finishes Buck’s sentence. “Oh, she’s good.”

“Well, I am walking,” Eddie confirmed, rounding the counter and beelining to the empty coffee pot. “And full of shame.”
“What happened?”
“I stood him up,” he answered, shortly.
After what was probably a very involved silent conversation between Linda and Josh, Josh said, “Eddie, if you aren’t ready, I’m sure he’d understand.”
“I am ready,” he said, detaching the water reservoir with more force than necessary. “I didn’t do it on purpose.”

Summary
Buck leans back against the door. “I figured while I’m here, we could talk about some ideas I have for the social media channels.” He sounds much more enthusiastic than most people would be about a government Twitter account, but Eddie bristles at his words. Eddie may have only been doing this for a couple of weeks, but he doesn’t need someone else to do his job for him.
Buck continues, ignoring Eddie’s offended look. “The last person was great, but there were some things that I always thought could be better. Here, I’ve made a list of my suggestions for you,” he says, reaching to pull a paper off his clipboard. Eddie pushes the clipboard against Buck’s chest, stopping him.
“Thanks, but I think I’ll be okay.”
What if Eddie didn't end up at the 118? AU where Eddie is the LAFD social media manager, and he meets Fire Marshal Evan Buckley.
