Summary
For all the terribleness of the world, Jean truly believed that every small dose of good he could put out changed things, even if it were just through the most miniscule of improvements. It was a childish notion, especially with all the depravity he witnessed, but it was not something he could let go of, no matter how much his will broke down. That was why he chained himself to the walking memory of a man who drowned himself in a bottle. That was why he subjected himself to the torments of the precinct and all the cases that flowed through it. For once, he just wanted the world to repay him in a way he felt was tangible when all his efforts remained unceasing. The world, however, is unflinching in the ways it liked to torment him, and does quite the opposite.
Or otherwise summarized as Jean being stripped of his purpose by way of his inability to remain on the force, and the suicidality that ensues.

Summary
Angel knew his apathy to others was the product of his own circumstances, and that sometimes it was hard to care about the numerous complaints they offered for reasons that were beyond his control. It happened during group therapy, it happened when people vented to him, and it even sometimes happened with himself when something bothered him but did not compare to his past. So, when he is taken into the custody of the Vees and finds Alastor of all people gaining his concern, he is a bit lost as to what to do. That does not stop him from trying to help at least, though.
Or otherwise summarized as Angel Dust seeing himself in Alastor, while Alastor tries his best to dissociate through the most gruelling stages of his plan.

Summary
Perhaps it was a coping mechanism of sorts, but it was far easier from the outside to pass judgement onto him when no one knew what had driven him to treat life like how he did. A plethora of what a shrink would call trauma, and a desperate need out of some fucked up version of loyalty to his father making him keep exposing himself to new variants of it had brought him to sink into that couch and take just a few more that night. Because what was the point in caring about the appearance of having it made, when nothing truly mattered?
Or otherwise summarized as the youngest of the Lebedev's taking a few more pills than what he did in canon - changing the way in which he dies - and what had brought him to so carelessly play around with his life when seemingly, he had just achieved everything that he had once worked so hard for.

Summary
Hugh, when he was asked if he would like to stay, became distracted as the captain went on the explain the choice. In that distraction, he failed to account for the repercussions that might have befell his friends when the Borg went searching, despite caring deeply for them. With this neglect, instead of taking the self-sacrificial approach, Hugh contrives to stay aboard the Enterprise to learn about his human heritage and spend more time with his friends, Geordi and Dr. Crusher. Little did he realize how difficult the assimilation into individual existence would be.
Or otherwise summarized as an AU where Hugh decides to stay aboard the Enterprise, following his development into a fully realized person.

Summary
After the death of her husband and partner, Ximena Talis loses everything, including the wealth accumulated by her family. With nowhere else to go, and the depression from the grief making things all the worse, Ximena treks to Zaun to try and re-establish herself and provide for the light of her life, Jayce. While she had hoped to get them out of there as soon as possible to prove to those in Piltover that she had a place amongst them, the ability to crawl from the lowest of lows is not always as easy as it seems from the top.

When Sniper woke up every morning and looked at himself in the mirror, he could confidently say that he was satisfied with the man who peered back at him. He had a career in what he loved doing best, and even if it put strain on his relationship with his parents, it left him fulfilled and happy. So, when Sniper loses his sight as a casualty of war, everything is thrown to the winds as he grapples with his identity and the altered team dynamics.

When Jayce asked Viktor if he thought it was easy to cling to principals while his best friend died in his arms, he was unaware of the fact that he had asked him that hundreds of times before in different universes. Further on that, he was unaware that in some universes he even had an answer.
