In hindsight, it was foolish to think that getting the whole gang to Scotland for Alison and Mike's wedding would be completely hassle-free. Of course fate would find some way to shove Pat and the Captain into an awkward situation or twenty.

A sudden change of plans leaves Pat and the Captain sharing a car across the country. They endure terrible traffic, even worse music, and their feelings for each other.

Summary
The Captain has been discharged from the army and is moving back to the village where all his university friends live. He thinks this whole thing would probably be much easier if Pat didn't hate him, after their messy break-up two decades earlier.
He's not exactly looking forward to the move, but he supposes it might be quite fun, getting to know all his old friends again. And when it comes to Pat, the Captain has absolutely no intention of making the same mistake twice.

Summary
Pat is a human welcome mat that doesn't know how to say no, so when Carol and Morris propose he marries the Captain to have a better chance to get Daley into some fancy school. he actually does.
What's worse, when he asks the Captain, he actually says yes.
So a year later, they are set for a moderately profitable fiscal year.

“We need to get you sobered up so we can go home okay? Here’s what we’re gonna do.” Guillermo looked around, in case anyone was watching, or worse, listening. He wasn’t scared of witnesses as much as he was embarrassed by his own ‘plan’. Of course he was dying to finally feel his master’s fangs sink into his neck, but this time he had a good reason. He was just doing his job, nothing more. Any satisfaction he would get from it he would keep to himself, and probably think about later at home in the privacy his room (if Nandor didn’t bleed him dry, that is).

And this is how the Captain found himself stealing quick glances at the man next to him. Pat did not seem upset and seemed quite content watching the film and yet his earlier outburst played on repeat in the Captain’s mind.
And so, after trying to restrain himself, halfway through the movie the Captain blurted out: “I don’t think you’re a joke.” He couldn’t help himself. It was as if he needed to make sure Pat knew he held him in high regard.
“You what?” He could feel his face heat up as Pat turned to face him, confusion evident in the endearing way he squinted up at the Captain.
