Banned twice from publication on Vulcan for it's salacious contents, Illogical Desires is the first part of the Vulcan/Human romance novel cycle of a mysterious anonymous author, who is no other that Ambassador Sarek himself. In an attempt to connect with his feelings and with the romantic culture of his wife's home planet, Sarek has penned "Illogical Desires", a highly fictionalised account of his and Amanda's courtship. At the publication, the work sparked outrage among the Vulcan elite for its rich details on Vulcan courtship, feeling and intimacy - now digitised, the original, uncensored manuscript can be made available to the public (but don't tell the Vulcan High council).

S'chn T'gai Sarek, newly appointed Vulcan ambassador to Earth, finds himself less well-prepared to understand Human culture than he had anticipated. When a Human woman unexpectedly invites him to coffee, he sees an opportunity to acquire a cultural tutor.
Both end up in over their heads rather quickly.
This is their story, as told through her diary entries and his personal logs.

Part 1 of an AU Sarek/Amanda series collection.
I spend a lot of time thinking about "what if" scenarios. Especially ones relating to Sarek/Amanda. This series revolves around the question: what if Amanda Grayson was engaged before she met Sarek. And what if the person she was engaged to was going to be the dad of her future son's best friend.
There will be angst. There will be hurt. But also plenty of comfort (provided by an illogically concerned Vulcan Ambassador) and received by an emotional Earth schoolteacher.

This story zeroes in on one day - 12th April 2229. In my head canon, this is the day Amanda Grayson and S’chn T’gai Sarek officially transition from work associates to affianced couple. Both parties intend it to be a carefully controlled encounter. Their future selves will look back and marvel at how little they understood themselves.
Some background might be needed to understand this head canon. Quickest way would be to read "Rumarie" from my "Missing Pieces" series, chapters 31, 32 and 35.
