Will flushed as Richie’s eyes, magnified by his lenses, very obviously raked over him, like he was trying to study or analyze him. If he wasn’t feeling so scrutinized he’d be entertained by how obvious it must be anytime Richie looked at anything. It was like his glasses exposed him rather than shielded him.
He looked almost wooden now, like he had been startled too, his eyes widening and widening impossibly more, making Will subconsciously worry he’d fall into them and get lost, until a little sigh-like sound punched out of Richie’s chest.
“Whoa.”
After the last two years of suffering and inter-dimensional threats, the only thing Will wanted was to spend a nice summer with his friends. Too bad they were too busy with their new relationships. With Dustin now away for summer camp, he dreaded the endless afternoons of fifth-wheeling to come.
After everything that happened last summer, Richie's mother thought it was best if he visited family for a while. Anything to get him out of a town that was clearly getting to him, even if Richie didn't think she knew why. He dreaded being away from the only people who could understand.
They could have never expected each other.

“Why won’t you just tell me then, Mike? What do you even see in me? How do you feel about me?” Will’s expression was placid now.
Mike just looks at him. He looks at the way Will’s hair was pinned back by his yellow hair pins he only wore when he painted or did any kind of art. The way his cheeks were rounded and soft at the edges. How his hazel eyes beamed down at him in that way that indicated he was intent on something. How his eyelids had a purple bluish hue to them. His lips pointed in with that cupid’s bow. Will was pretty.
“Mike?” Will edged.
“You’re pretty.” Mike said honestly, feeling a bit regretful after saying it.Or
Mike and Will are both confronted by the growing feelings they have for each other, unable to keep it away anymore. Will is suffering from the disappearance of the hivemind, trauma and emptiness that came with everything that happened with Vecna and the Upside Down. Insomnia wreaks havoc in Will's psyche every night.

"Have you talked to him today?" Jonathan asked, gesturing toward Will, who was now heading to the sink. Mike didn't need Jonathan to explain who he meant.
"No, he's been in the basement all day. I thought he was just painting or something," Mike replied, lowering his voice. "I think he's having an episode."
Jonathan shrugged. "I mean, maybe, but he hasn't had one in a long time."
Mike knew Will hadn't had an episode in at least a year, but what he didn't know was why it was happening now.Mike knew Will was still recovering from everything, still adjusting to being back home. The past couple of years hadn't been great, but Mike thought things were getting better, or at least easier.
"I know," Mike whispered, looking back at Will to make sure he hadn't left the kitchen yet. He was nearly finished rinsing off his plate. Mike turned back to Jonathan. "What should we do?"
"I don't know. I mean, usually you were with him. You always knew how to talk to him and knew what he needed," Jonathan said, pausing. "Honestly, I think he probably just wants you."
