Summary
Time is passing.
3 years have already gone by with both parties working hard towards their goals. Relenting not being an option, for the rewards are too great for either to even attempt to lose sight. While having to work together both Butler and Master have grown accustomed to each other, learning to live as peaceful as they can manage. With a rhythm they have created, a game they have been playing since the day the contract was forged.Yet as is with everything, change is never far from where time continues to tick down. So after 3 years it's time for change to come in and disturb this rhythm the Phantomhive household has more or less learned to anticipate.
For the first time in a while the moves to their well thought out dance start to change, leaving both parties stumbling in the end.

Summary
The memories had to be fake.
When Light touches the Death Note and the memories of his time as Kira return, he cannot accept they are true. What kind of monster could take joy from slaughtering millions? They must have been sent by Kira to distract him! Light swears he will execute the real Kira if it's the last thing he ever does.
Meanwhile, L is wondering why his favorite killer seems to no longer want him dead.

Summary
L Lawliet doesn't regret sending Kira to his execution. He doesn't feel any sympathy for Light, he isn't sorry he won, and he certainly doesn't miss Light. Not at all.
He would like to know why the world feels so hollow without him, though.
Or: Misa was right. It is a dark world without Light, and L is being haunted.

“You’re in love with me,” L says.
It’s the first thing he’s spoken all afternoon. He’s huddled in his dorm bed, tissues strewn everywhere across the sheets, a few on the floor. The cereal Light has placed in front of him (the only variant of chicken soup sweet enough for L to tolerate) remains untouched.
“What,” says Light, before registering the actual sentence. “What?”
L doesn’t repeat himself. His blanket-mass form shrinks a little smaller.
