Bilbo is irritated at Thorin for whatever reason and decided to express it the Hobbit way. Except the Hobbit was is subtle as hell, like overseasoning their food constantly addressing them formally, giving them gifts that are unsuited to them or sized wrong, the kind of stuff that can be really easily misinterpreted to people not aware of the implications
So to Thorin, Bilbo's irritation comes off as courtship attempts

Summary
Bedsharing is common sense amongst the dwarves. Heating the cold stone of Ered Luin is difficult and resource intensive, not to mention sleeping with kin is considered a marker of safety and closeness.
Sometimes, despite their penchant for producing hoards of faunts, even hobbit couples don't share beds, especially in the upper class families. It's common sense. Your spouse might snore or wake up for breakfast earlier than you. Sleeping with friends or family once you're no longer the youngest of faunts? Unheard of, and odder than Rudagar's rutabaga-shaped back mole besides.
Or: Bilbo is very confused, and the company doesn't understand and insists.

"Dwarves grow an excess of hair because their natural body temperature is very low. Hobbits on the other hand are like miniature furnaces. This is discovered on a particularly chilly night and the dwarves all bicker over who gets to cuddle with the hobbit for the night."
As far as each of them were concerned, the hobbit was theirs to cuddle at night. Everyone else in the company was welcome to find their own.

Summary

What starts as a plan to spy on him quickly goes off track when they end up learning way more than they ever wanted to about their archnemesis, Severus Snape. Now they’re left dealing with the consequences of knowing a little too much.

Summary
While dueling with Draco Malfoy on a moving staircase (because both of them are very smart), Harry Potter takes a tumble and slams his head against the banister. He wakes up in the hospital wing without any of his memories. Thankfully, Madam Pomfrey, Hermione, Neville, and Professor Snape are able to clue him in.
Professor Snape? Well, yes, Hermione did tell Harry that he and the Slytherin Head of House share not even the slightest ounce of rapport. However, Harry is very stubborn and optimistic. And happens to be very confident in his instincts, no matter how wrong they may be.

Overwhelmed by guilt and nightmares surrounding Cedric's death even months after the third task is over, Harry's mental and physical state are falling to pieces, but this time, for a reason unclear to him, Snape isn't there to pick them up.
After orders from Dumbledore warning him to stay emotionally distant from Potter, the Potions master can only help in the subtlest ways as the boy he worries so much about begins to crumble. But through the years they got to know each other through playful house rivalry, betting pools about the latest DADA professor, and late night tea in the Headmaster's office. But then Voldemort returned and any illusion of playing house is ruined.
