    They weren’t supposed to grow this close. L’s not supposed to be his best friend, he shouldn’t have become this important and now Light has to kill him, because there’s no other way for his plans to move forward, no other way for him to get everything he wants.
    But at this point how could any of it even be what he wants if L has to be dead for him to get it? If Light has to be the one who kills him?

     

    A little bathtub hurt/comfort set after Light gets his memories back and has to come to terms with having to kill the one person who truly sees him enough to have always seen all of him.

    L knows that Light Yagami is guilty. And he is forced to accept that he will never be able to prove it.

    So, just this once, he decides to break his principles and go above the law. He kidnaps Light and takes him to Wammy's house.

    He's sure that having the kids interact with a real-life mass murderer will be a very educational experience indeed.

    Or: Light is Kira, L is sick of how easily manipulated the police are, and he secretly wants to see what will happen if he forces Light into a domestic situation with children just as intelligent as he is.

    ... However very rarely, events coincide in a way that makes the madness, and the method appear one in the same.
