Can he… Lancelot doesn’t understand at first. Then comprehension dawns, and his stomach sinks. He isn’t asking after something like a kiss to the forehead. There’s no world in which Lancelot could misinterpret the way Gawain's eyes have darkened, or how they’ve dropped to his mouth.Or, Gawain gets emotional, tipsy, and a little reckless.

Summary
Gawain was aware that he had somewhat of a reputation, not wholly undeserved but, nevertheless, exaggerated. He was also aware that things had been insinuated about how he actually escaped beheading at the hands of the Green Knight. But he hadn’t actually seduced Bertilak, no matter what Guenevere and the ladies of the court liked to teasingly imply. He hadn’t intended to, at any rate.
So it wasn’t true. But perhaps in this instance, it didn’t matter, because Lancelot, he reasoned, was French and Catholic, and, therefore, deeply repressed.

Summary
Gwaine had gotten him a flower, which didn't sound like much, but when you added in that he'd snuck into the royal gardens to gather one for him, it made it much more sentimental. A kingdom's royal gardens are tenderly cared for, filled with the best flowers that only royalty received as compliments of beauty.
There was no doubt in Merlin's mind that Gwaine was entirely aware of all that.

After being cared for by Merlin while he recovers, Gwaine finds himself with feelings for the servant and is making foreign romantic gestures to court him. He also finds himself extremely protective of Merlin when two knights suddenly take an uncomfortable interest in Merlin.

Summary
Merlin knew it was going to happen at one point or another, it has happened before and he knows he’s not subtle enough, he's not as careful as he should. That doesn’t mean he doesn’t feel like all the breath has left him and the blind panic of something worse than fearing for your life.
So, it happened. Merlin just wished it was under a less bloody circumstance.
“I was going to give you a hand,” Gwaine said, with the sword still on his hand. Merlin can’t breathe “but clearly you didn’t need it.”

There’s a knock at his door and Merlin curls further in on himself, and all he can see is the woman on the pyre, but now he’s joining her, and the flames are growing, and –
“Merlin?” It’s Gwaine. Merlin didn’t see him come in but suddenly he’s sitting on the bed in front of him, reaching a hand out to touch but not quite closing the distance. Merlin lets out a sob, in anguish or relief he doesn’t know, and he falls forwards. The knight wraps his arms around Merlin and silently holds him as Merlin cries. The yelling gets louder. Merlin can smell smoke in the air. Gwaine hugs him tighter.
There are no words.

Merlin accidentally sets up an orphanage.

“You’re doing an amazing thing here,” Lancelot said apropos of nothing as he handed Merlin a nail.
“It’s hardly amazing,” Merlin scoffed, concentrating on fixing the wooden beam in place. “I used to fix my mother’s roof all the time when I was little.”
“I mean here.” Lancelot gestured back to the house. “These children would have nowhere to go if you didn’t take them in.”
“Oh I don’t really do much,” Merlin said with a wave of his hand. “I just pop by every now and then to say hello. Mary does all the work.”
Merlin concentrated back on the roof. Anything not to look into Lancelot’s proud and warm eyes.He couldn’t explain to wonderful, pure Lancelot why he didn’t deserve any praise. Taking in these children, helping them to grow up safe and fed, it was the least he could do after all the destruction he had caused in Camelot.

At least a third of Camelot’s population were sorcerers, or had the capability to become so, an absurd number for a kingdom that steadily lost such kinds to execution and magical attacks. It was as though magic was being called here, centered in his kingdom, and he could not fight it any longer.
The Disir had given him a choice, and he stood by his answer. He’d gone in alone before them and left with a new vow.
Magic would be free, and Arthur would honor its gods.

A fill for this prompt at kinkme_merlin: Merlin goes through a lot of trauma and has gotten very used to hiding it, moving on (or at least appearing to), and coping silently and without anyone noticing, because most of the time no one can know something happened. One day something traumatic happens to him, which everyone knows about, and everyone is waiting for Merlin to snap, only for him to...not. Arthur is caught between worried and suspicious, and sets about to get to the bottom of this.

In fact he is standing right here next to them, watching them all fret over his prone body. To stave off the boredom whilst a cure is found Arthur takes to wandering the castle and soon discovered a hidden side of Camelot he never knew about.
Or: Arthur's soul gets trapped outside his body and takes to following his servant around. He gets an interesting insight into Merlin, his servant's life and just how much Camelot needs the man.

It leaves Merlin spiraling and Arthur to deal with the heart of Camelot, his heart, to deal with it.

"Merlin!” He said, smiling brightly with eyes wide. “Merlin, my love!”
“Oh Gods and Goddesses, please save me,” Merlin mumbled to himself as Arthur scrambled off the table and ran to wrap his arms around Merlin. The sorcerer groaned and looked over his shoulder at Arthur.
“But it hurts to be apart.” Arthur whined, proceeding to unceremoniously drop all 180 pounds of himself onto Merlin’s lap. “It hurts deep in here.”
Arthur grabs Merlin’s hand and rests it over his heart. Merlin just looks at him with a deadpan look as he wrestles his hand back and tries to shove Arthur off.

Or Merlin believes Arthur has been hit with a love spell and has to deal with an insanely clingy Arthur for two days while he tries to figure out how to break it.
A talk with the druids leaves him thinking about his supposedly unrequited love (and how it might not be so unrequited)
