The being currently known as the Doorman steps through a previously nonexistent door and behind the hotel lobby's front desk, and tilts his head at the sight.
Mortals, guest and employee alike, lie scattered all over the room. All of them in deep slumber, lost in the land of sleep. Above the desk and on the floor and across various furniture—a bellboy even managed to lean himself against the hotel's front doors, propped up against the handles with his hat askew.
A scene straight out of a fairy tale. Or a horror movie.

He stayed in L’Manburg long after the demise of the Schlatt administration, which he had once cared for so delicately as vice president. Not because he believed L’Manburg could be fixed. Nor because he thought he was the one to fix it. Toby stayed because the hill remained, and the boulder awaited him. And so he pushed it.
OR
Tubbo’s presidency mirrors the mythological story of Sisyphus as they both continue in the face of futility.

And he does. And it costs two lives and two music discs and all of his innocence; but that’s okay, because it was worth it, because Wilbur is impressed and Wilbur is proud and now they have a new home and Tommy is safe.

Now Tubbo may not be a religious person by any stretch of the imagination, but he’s been around enough of them to have learned a thing or two about the rest of the server’s practices. He knows lots of them worship different gods, some even worship more than one, but any time he’s ever heard reference to the actual worship and prayer sort of thing it was always in terms of offerings – apples, dyes, bones, gold. Typical stuff one would leave at the altar.
Tubbo stares at Wilbur, then looks back at Tommy, who still dances in the sun-warmed grass. His arms spread out for balance as he jumps and spins, face turned up to the sun with a brilliant smile stretching his cheeks. Tommy whoops and shrieks again, laughing as he stumbles and runs up the hills just to jump back down, bell clanging the whole way.
He’s never heard of prayer like this before.

He wishes he could tell Tommy that he's already helped so much already. He wishes he could understand why they're still clinging together, why Tommy is still reaching for his hand when Tubbo will always, always pull away. He wishes he could stop being such a dead weight, quit pulling Tommy further and further down into a place he knows he won't return from. He wishes he could make Tommy understand that this boat is sinking.
He wishes he could ask for help, and he wishes he could tell Tommy that he doesn't remember how.

Yes, the Server likes to keep tabs on Tubbo. So it had worried, right along with Tommy, when they both found him sitting all alone on the bridge. *That* bridge, the one spanning across the near-Chunk Error.

Tommy's doing crime, Wilbur's on a power trip, Techno's off farming potatoes, and Phil just wants a black coffee. In an effort to escape boredom, Tommy and Wilbur challenge king-of-the-school Dream and his possy of evildoers, accidentally dragging their dysfunctional family and even more dysfunctional friend group into a high school war that spans debate club, mock elections, a theatre production, and even brawls on the cafeteria floor. Tubbo brings the bloodthirst, Ranboo brings the reason, and all Dream wants is his rival to hurry up and be his friend already.
Welcome to DSMP High (very creative name, I know).
Losing a canon life is now “getting suspended”. Permadeath is “getting expelled”, and revival is “the principal got bribed to revoke your expulsion”. This is a retelling of the Dream SMP lore, but in the form it was always meant to be... High School Warfare.

Summary
The War of Independence would never be easy, Wilbur had made that clear, Dream had made that clear, and Tubbo wasn't fool enough to believe it wouldn't be true. But, honestly, he hadn't expected it to be as bad as it was becoming. Tubbo only wished for those he cared about to be safe, and the nation he loved to be free, yet it seemed everything was working together to make that impossible. Though, he knew he would always have his family, no matter the hardships.
Or: Tubbo is hurt while fighting in a battle he wasn't supposed to be apart of, and Wilbur is not too happy about it, but they end up having a good conversation out of it anyway.
