She drops her belongings in a heap on the floor, a symbolic gesture. She’s staying.
“Feel better now?” She can barely contain her glee.
He sits forward on the couch, avoiding her gaze and caging his fingers in front of him. With a wry laugh he shakes his head, tongue pressed against the inside of his cheek. Then his eyes rake deliberately up her body from floor to crown and all the light seems to have gone out of them, the overly sweet smile falling short of reaching them.
This… isn’t what she expected? Tingles of unease creep up her spine the longer his intense appraisal continues and her smile falters, the silent tension charging the air between them like the gathering storm outside the windows.
“Do I feel better?” he repeats, a keen edge to his voice. “Hmph.”

The Hunter’s Association dorms have been severely damaged in a Wanderer attack. The Association decides that now is a good time to rebuild and update the facilities. So everyone has to move out for 6 months and is given a fixed stipend to cover housing accommodations. However, every time I apply for any of the surrounding apartments in my price range, they end up being unavailable. Just when I’m at my wits end, Rafayel offers to let me come stay with him.
