When Bucky went into cryo-freeze in Wakanda, he thought he was giving up everything--his chance at life, love, and the possibility of redeeming himself for the crimes he committed under HYDRA's control. So when he wakes up in 2017 in a vault under a secret military base in Nevada, he has a LOT of questions. Unfortunately, no one seems to know the answers, and the harder he searches for them, the more questions he uncovers.
Meanwhile, intent on finding and capturing Captain America and the Secret Avengers, General Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross hires the world's most talented personality assassin: Dick Spanker, an ex-comics writer with a talent for coming up with absurd, horrifying smear campaigns.
(I started writing this right after Civil War came out, but due to recent events, I've retconned the story to include my new least favorite person, Dick Spanker. Also, this is taking a lot of brainpower to write, since I haven't had a lot of experience writing some of the characters involved and I really want to do them all justice. Which means updates will be slow for a while.)

Steve see's a quick way to make cash, bodyguard for the wreck James Barnes. He knows hes not going to like it, will have to endure the job but being debt free at the end of it is worth watching the ungrateful brunette.
Except, nothing is what it seems, James isn't the man he's read about, isn't the sob stories of political speeches, isn't the slobbing druggie Pierce talks about. He's haunted, used for Pierces gain, trapped in a messed up game of power, and Steve might just be falling into the game with him.
