Summary
The war against Alvarez was over and Acnologia was defeated, leaving Fairy Tail victorious, but broken. A month long, all expenses paid trip to Akane is just want this family needs to unwind, but there is a catch. Makarov has demanded that they all do therapy sessions with Anna. As they delve into their issues and trauma, they face more pain and tears as they battle the demons they have all tried to face on their own while trying to reestablish the bonds that were cracked. Getting through this means they will be stronger for it, but getting through it won't be easy.
Retelling of Fairy Tail as if the Dragon Slayers claimed their mates. Please read this series in order if you haven't yet.
This part of the series deals with the aftermath of Alvarez, the trauma they went through during the war and the trauma they went through as kids. Lots of angst, drama, family times, fluff and smut. Read chapter notes for any trigger warnings.

When I find nothing to reply with, I turn to my default settings. Being an asshole.
“Watch it next time, wench,” I mumble. My permanent scowl remains on my face, feigning boredom. On the outside, I’m a mask of complete indifference.
On the inside? I’m freaking the fuck out.
Her beautiful ocean orbs widen and her shock is palpable.
Then she really surprises me.
Plump lips twist into a sneer while she crosses her arms over her chest. I swallow the groan rising in my chest as her arms push her tits up.
“It’s Kagome. Ka-go-me. Not wench.” She speaks low and enunciates every word like I’m a toddler. Her cheeks burn with anger.
It’s the sexiest fucking thing I’ve ever seen.
A voice deep within speaks to me, paralyzing the blood in my veins.
"Mate.”

Things between Shepard and Kaidan still felt.. odd. What little alone time they could manage to steal for themselves was more often than not spent in the comfort of each other’s bodies. Kaidan is beginning to feel as if they spend more time wrapped up in each other than actually talking. He understands why of course, he knew Shepard is making up for lost time in her own way. What could they talk about that wasn't teetering on depressing?
Earth was in ruins, and they faced an uncertain future where neither person was guaranteed to be in. Shepard armored her heart with impenetrable walls surrounding it and Kaidan wants to see them torn to the ground. He doesn't care what the future holds for them. He cares only that no matter what happens next; their future will be spent together.
