Years had passed since the rumbling. Life had simply...moved on.
As the evening wound down, the group splintered off. Jean naturally fell into step beside Mikasa as they turned down the sidewalk toward her home. The silence between them was comfortable, forged in the fires of a dozen battles and refined by years of peace. Jean walked with his hands shoved deep into the pockets of his coat, his eyes focused on the cobblestones ahead. He had filled out since the war. His shoulders broader, the lines of his face more defined. He carried a rugged sort of grace he’d never quite had as a boy.
“The city’s getting bigger.” Jean remarked, breaking the silence. “I heard they’re planning to build a library near the harbor. Armin’s practically vibrating with excitement.”
Mikasa offered a small, rare smile. “He’s been talking about it for weeks.”
The walked a bit further, the streetlamps casting long, flickering shadows. Jean slowed his pace before he cleared his throat, a sound that was uncharacteristically nervous.
"Hey, Mikasa?"
"Yes?"
He didn’t look at her. He just kept his gaze fixed on a distant point. “Do you...do you want to get dinner with me tomorrow? Just the two of us?”

He probably finds the idea of his goofball student being romantically involved with anyone in the first place completely laughable.
His sensei is totally uninterested in the idea of Naruto and romance, and Naruto is confident he can count on that.

The noises stop abruptly, and as Harry peers around the kitchen door to say hello his mouth drops open. He’s face to, well, arse with a naked man standing at the kitchen sink, pouring a glass of water. His tall, pale body is immediately familiar, as is his ice blonde hair, and as he turns his head, cigarette hanging from his plush lips, Harry’s body fills with panic.
“Oh -. Fuck,” he says. He puts his hands up as if to block the view but it’s hard to look away.
Draco Malfoy turns around and leans against the sink, takes the cigarette out of his mouth. “Oh. Hi,” he says.
Harry arrives at university to train as a medical curse breaker, wanting a fresh start. Draco appears back in his life with a bang and it only really escalates from there, to absolutely nobody's surprise.
