There was a mark etched into the bark; the mark Izuku had started scratching into the trees with a sharp rock to stop himself from constantly going in circles. His mark was already on this tree.
But right above it, three gouges were carved deep into the tree trunk. Like...like claw marks.
"A-A...A bear," Izuku told himself shakily. "It must've been a bear."
Yet the next tree up ahead with his mark also had three slashes in it.
And the one after that.
And the one after that.
Some of them held claw marks above his mark, others had the gouges going through his mark.
There were none on any of the other trees, only on the ones Izuku had marked.
No animal behaved like that.
Izuku whimpered quietly as the forest began to darken around him, the sun almost fully set.
He was being hunted.

What the villagers don't know is that they might get what they want, but what they loose in the process was worth far more then they knew.
Oh well, a certain someone is definitely happy to profit from those fools blindness, and even more happy to gain something else from it.

I could feel tear welling up inside me knowing the conversation held little importance to him.
"The worst part of all this is that despite all that happened between us, I still love you....but I know it will always be one-sided." By now I was sure some tears had spilled over. I walked past Ban to exit the room. I had barley opened the door before it was abruptly shut from behind me. The act caught me off guard, I didn't dare turn around. Bans arm never moved from beside my head.
"You talk to much. I barley got your name out before you bit my head off." He moved his body closer me mine, his mouth now inches from my ear.
"I may not be a smartass or know exactly what this thing is between us but I do know that you are my trouvaille. As cruel as it may sounds, I can't let you go."
