Batman has the Superman. Midnighter has Apollo. Slade decides he wants a super-man all of his own. So he makes use of multiversal shenanigans to get himself one.
Slade seems to know all the right things to promise the Homelander. A family, a fresh start, a new world that will love and adore him, and, — the words that are like honey to his ears — whatever he wants. All he has to do is whatever Slade tells him to, and something about Slade Wilson makes Homelander want to do exactly that.
