His dad, the Number two hero Dream, had signed him up to take on three heroes in training when he knew just how much he DIDN'T want to. I mean, there were already so many issues with the mere thought of it...
1: Tommy was only 16
2: Tommy never actually worked with others and was, quite frankly, dogshit at it
3: Tommy didn't want to watch them die when he ultimately failed
Icarus has only six months to train his interns and with each passing week, things start to change and get more dangerous for himself and his interns. Tommy doesn't even know if he can protect them while also protecting himself. With each passing month, Tommy seems to discover more about a hidden truth that seems to have been laying out in the open.
Or, hero Tommy becomes a teacher and learns that his entire life is a fucking lie

After two months of art lessons, Tommy very much regretted choosing it as a GCSE.
Not because he was bad at it or anything—no he loved drawing—but it was his teachers. It was how his school taught art. Everything about it sucked the creativity out of it. It took away his choice of expression, forced him to write coursework about overrated, dead artists and their dogshit contemporary pieces.
But then he got a new teacher to sub into his Friday lessons.
He didn't think someone whose last name referred to the stuff in chimneys could make him love art again. Yet, Mr Wilbur Soot did.

“Oh, I’m just doing fantastic,” he said sarcastically.
The kid winced. “Yeah, uh, that’s probably a stupid question. Sorry, I’m sort of new to this hero thing. I’m Ranboo by the way.”
Tommy rolled his eyes. Marvelous. A hero.
“You do realize the chances of heroes surviving to see a happy ending are really low?” Tommy demanded, crossing his arms.
Or, the Hercules Au where Ranboo is trying to be a hero, and Tommy is just manipulated into trying to make sure Dream's plan of world domination worked out.

Then another man is bounding over. Tall, skinny, just like Tommy, except a little bit taller. Brown curls pile upon his head and over his forehead. Tommy can see a strong nose, and a strong chin, and everything clicks as the man leans into Techno’s space and starts excitedly showing him the contents of a brown bakery bag.
“Oh my god! This is perfect!” Tommy exclaims, drawing the attention of the new, cooler man. Cooler because Tommy actually looks like this guy, a little bit, despite the man’s brown eyes and rounded glasses resting upon his nose.
“Excuse me,” Tommy says eagerly, practically bouncing on his feet. “Will you be my pretend-brother?”

After getting into trouble at school, Tommy has to take his brother, Phil, to Parent's Night—except Phil is always working, and always exhausted, and Tommy doesn't want to burden him...
He'll just have to find a different brother for Parent's Night instead.

Tommy pulled said piece of plastic out, visibly holding it up. “I have a pen.” Something about the bemused look on the man's face made Tommy click it, and again, repeatedly.

UA has a rule—no quirkless students. It was added years ago, after much hemming and hawing about safety concerns and lessening blame in the inevitable circumstance of death. There's no real reason to remove it, not as the percentage of quirkless people plummets further and further.
Of course, this rule doesn't actually matter to Izuku, because he's got an analysis quirk.
As far as anyone knows.
The Plan is simple: have a quirk, become a hero, and avoid anyone who could disprove those first two things.
In hindsight, UA isn't a great choice. And that's before the villains.

The villain looked with such concern and courtesy, as some time ago in the city. Tommy put on a smile at the praise and deciphered his task.
Distract everyone while Philza does his business like robberies and undermining the heroic system.
"Uh, well, that sounds cool," the boy shrugged. "And what will I get for it?"
"Home. Money that you have the right to dispose of as you please. Delicious food every day. A rich, luxurious life. Agree?"
Tommy bit his lip and looked down. Risky. Very, very risky.
Tommy is pleased that after his death he got into a novel he read once. In the end, he is a background character at most, and the whole drama of the plot certainly does not concern him.
But one day Philza Craft, the main antagonist of the story, comes and declares him his son.

Dream’s mask seems to be looking off into the distance, head raised with one hand held into the air, and the other grasped onto his sword, too little, too late. Technoblade stares at him with narrowed eyes, lip curled in a scowl, his tusks only adding to the image of danger. They are at a standstill, kept like statues, Wilbur only being able to lift his head up and witness.
“If you kick my son again,” Technoblade tells Dream, voice low. “I'm going to cut your head off.”
There’s no hint of a false word in his threat. Wilbur finds the protection over him comforting for a moment, his worries relieved, his fear settling. Then he catches onto the wording, and he remembers very well that son is not the word for Techno to have.

Thanato whipped his head to the side.
There, sitting only half on the railing, was… a kid?
The young looking maybe-hero wore a fully black outfit, mask and all, as well as a cloak that almost accentuated the typical lanky body and round face of a teenager. Perhaps that was biassed, coming from a father of two, but to him it seemed quite clear.
“I could ask you the same thing, kid,” he whispered back.
The maybe-hero squawked, clearly offended, and Thanato was sure he would’ve shouted if it wouldn’t have risked discovery. “I’m not a kid, I’m fucking Theseus bitch! This is my first ever ree-con-aye-since mission, not even that- my first ever mission, and you’re ruining it!”
Thanato blinked, tipping his head to the right.
“This is your first mission?” He confirmed.
“Yeah, bitch,” Theseus acknowledged, rather rudely.
A reconnaissance assignment as a hero’s first mission? That was unheard of, not only because it would never grace the news, but because heroes knew it wouldn’t. “...Seems pretty boring.”
