Summary
Shane's new career in the NHL was going surprisingly well, with just one little problem. He had started to hear voices. Actually, it was just one voice in particular. Every so often, he swears he can hear a man speak clearly to him in a heavy Russian accent. Everywhere he turns, though, the source of the voice cannot be found. It feels like there was something missing in his life, and he didn't know how to find it.
Across the world in Russia, Ilya Rozanov has spent the last 3 years of his life dreaming of freckles and brown eyes. He couldn't put a name to the face. Couldn't even see any more details besides the eyes and the freckles. Discovering who those freckles belong to is the one thing that is keeping Ilya alive at the moment.
In this timeline, multiple things happen that prevent Shane and Ilya meeting in the way they were supposed to. Good thing Shane and Ilya fall in love in every universe.

After a beautiful afternoon that had ended in a way neither of them had liked, they only saw each other again three months later. But things were different now. Whilst Ilya couldn’t keep his eyes off of Shane, the other man hadn’t even glanced at him once.
That, more than anything, made Ilya angry, causing him to hit Shane, accidentally using too much force and sending him off to a hospital. Immediate regret and a way too public display of concern are only followed by a descending spiral of blame and self-hatred.
OR: Ilya injures Shane three months after Tuna Meltdown and completely forgets to hide his emotions which are now, of course, on public display.

Left laying on his bathroom floor after a near death experience Ilya does not recognize the flash of a camera through his window. Later after being checked in a game against Montreal his wound reopens, Shane notices something wrong but doesn't realize what it is until the photo drops. Desperate he rushes to Ilya's home to fix what had been broken.

Shane didn’t even have to think. “Yes.”Shane Hollander decides to stop being afraid with the help of his new best friend, Rose Landry. He also decides if he's going to ask Ilya to be with him, to give up Russia, then he can't also ask him to give up his team. He decides to reconnect with Ilya at All-Stars, not knowing that Ilya won't be there because his father, brother, and sister-in-law have died, leaving him as guardian of his niece. Oh, well. He'll just say hi to him when he gets to his first Boston Raiders practice.

When she gave birth by the end of his first year as a professional baseball player, she made the incredibly difficult decision to place the baby for adoption.
Shane adopted her.
Her name is Sofia Yuna Hollander.
