a pregnant pause of silence ensues that phainon so desperately wishes he could abort, before he braces for impact and watches with a wince, as the lollipop in cipher's mouth drops like a missile bomb and detonates somewhere in the distance. it falls down, down down, and quite literally sends phainon's weak-willed wall of an ego crumbling into smithereens.

If Phainon were to describe it, it's akin to something that he'd recreate on his acoustic guitar that he plays with Mydei, chords strum through a smooth finger plucking technique. It's definitely an instrumental to a song, no doubt, and the emotions it delivers stir a little bit of warmth in Phainon's heart.
Except… he doesn't quite recall the lyrics.

The vision comes blurry, as if a fog filter is clouding his eyes. All he can hear is the sound of the wind blowing, his face feeling icy, and a familiar voice talking to him.

Or, the story where Phainon and Mydei live as roommates, but they barely exchange words. At least until they find themselves taking care of a kid together, and memories of a foreign, distant life mix with the present, presenting in the form of dreams.

The shining gold frame towers over the guests observing below, its size nearing the height of the museum's walls. This painting was said to be the grandest art piece there is, belonging to the famous artist "De". One he has painted for his personal exhibition tonight—in fact, it could have been the grandest of all art pieces he has made, but no one understands the occasion.
The title De wrote below the painting was but a simple and single word. "Deliverer", yet stylicized in a foreign text that linguistic experts believe to be the ancient Kremnoan language of the early Castrum Kremnos.
And he—Phainon of Aedes Elysiae, belonging from a town in the outskirts of Okhema City—stands there with a wide eyed gaze and trembling hands. Because that painting is not any ordinary painting.
It looked like him.
Matter of fact, it may just be him.

Phainon enters a cycle of modern Amphoreus. Everything is oddly familiar yet he can't remember why, except something haunts him in his dreams, forcing him to relive memories he grew to believe may be his.
All is barely well, until a certain secret painter turns out to have the same predicament as he does.

Phainon’s soulmate dies at age 5.
He’s sitting on the grass that is supposedly, ‘green’, against the backdrop of ‘azure blue’ skies and ‘white’ clouds drifting by. The flowers are ‘purple’, ‘yellow’, and ‘orange’, the one Cyrene is holding is ‘lilac’, a small bunch clustered together around a small, sad ‘green’ stalk.
He reaches out to brush it with his fingers when the world, impossibly, burns into color. Burns because - it blazes to life, spreading wild and fast, filling the shade he once knew as ‘gray’ into color she never knew could coexist and look so beautiful, all at once.
That shade of gray - it explodes into vibrancy he’s never seen before, with the lighter shades of black twisting and turning into a vast array he’s never known existed, and the darker shades forming shadows, darker hues of the color they were dyed in.
And somewhere, in the back of Phainon’s mind, his five year old self thinks, his soulmate is dead, their blood diluted to form ‘color’, to weave this world into life.
