Summary
"She stood firm, her clutch steady against his forearm. 'You are my brother.'
'No,' he said, and his voice was gravelly. 'No, I am no brother of yours, Sansa Stark.'"
The war has taken much from both of them. But when Jon Snow returns from the south as the new Region-King of the North, Sansa Stark knows that the best way to secure Winterfell for the both of them is a marriage that neither of them want, but the marriage that they both know that they need.

Tender and true.
She took a step closer, felt her face burning with the sting of rising impatience. “It isn’t my confidence that’s the issue, Jon. If you keep acting so nonchalant about your title, there will be someone who will be inspired to take Winterfell away from you.” She stopped, had to swallow an unexpected sob from her throat. “There will be someone who will want to take Winterfell away from us. And I’ve fought too hard to stay here… I’ve given my blood and my youth and my maidenhood to stay here. I will not go gentle from my home, Jon Snow. Do you understand me?”There was only the howl of the dogs for a long second. His eyes were on her, and she found the air inside her lungs hot and furious. Then, slowly, he dismounted his horse, pulled down his kill and stalked quickly towards her. He was only a few inches away from her when he stopped, and stared down at her. She was prepared to glower back at him, a fire inside her belly. However, when she met his eyes, she saw them as sad, pleading, so apologetic that she could only blink thoroughly in surprise.
Then, finally, he said, “I wanted to make good on your promise last night.” He raised the rabbits in the air and said unnecessarily, “For the stew.”

Enjoyable original characters, good dialogue, and the ever-satisfying use of outsider perspectives.
Normal servants did not spill food (creating suspiciously timely distractions) and remain employed. Normal servants did not steal food (every meal in order to check for poisons) and remain employed. Normal servants did not talk back (and give surprisingly good advice) and remain employed.Normal servants also did not locate the charm some idiot had put under the king's bed, destroy them with appropriate methods, hunt down those responsible and . . . Well, Relius hadn't seen that suspicious kitchen maid recently, and in their business that meant he didn't really expect to see her this side of the Cailleach's veil.
Normal servants didn't spend their midnight hours carefully blocking the spyholes in the king's guest room. Normal servants didn't divert arrows from assassins who got too close.
Normal servants didn't have magic, particularly in Camelot, particularly if they directly served the king.

"The raven comes to the Jon on the Wall one day, one day when it's all over and he's stopped counting days. The note contains only two words. If this was one of her songs, the parchment would be faded from her hands, the ink would have run with her tears, and the words would be sweet and desperate. 'Please,' they would say, 'I need you.' This is not one of her songs. 'Come home,' it reads, and that is all. And that is enough."
"The raven comes to Sansa on a day that she almost gives up on. If this was one of her stories, the note would come with a flower, with a knight on a horse, and she would let him wear her favors. This is not one of her stories. It comes alone, tied in black. There is no name, and but one word."

Jon comes home to Winterfell, Sansa takes back control of her life, and the two of them begin to heal together. Gentle and leisurely.
He examines her work intently, and Sansa feels herself color, as though it is she he is looking at so attentively. She is scared, for a moment, that he will not like it, that he remembers their family differently than she does, but he reaches out one finger to trace Father’s face tenderly, then Robb’s.“Sansa,” he says, “You have forgotten yourself.”
She bites her lip. She has not forgotten, exactly. She knows she has not added herself to the picture. [...]
“I don’t know how to add myself,” she admits, and struggles to elaborate. But how can she explain that she is not even sure she fits into this family anymore, or how she fits in? Where would she put herself, in between the father that she watched die and the mother and brother she called traitors? Next to the sister that hated her or the young boys she would hardly know today? “It has been so long, Jon, since we have been like this… where do I fit, anymore?”
“There,” he says, pointing to the spot on the tapestry at his own side, the spot that would have her nestled in between Jon and her Father, mirroring her mother on Ned’s other side.

A well-written AU that feels at once very familiar and entirely new. Manages to believably show the impact that Luke and Leia's changed upbringings have had on them—and on the galaxy—while still keeping the characters recognizably themselves.
He saw Padmé at times, when he observed her from afar. She was so intelligent, viciously witty and remarkably kind. At least to those who she deemed deserving of her kindness. He wondered for not the first or the last time how her twin was fairing on Alderaan. If Bail was having as much difficulty wrangling the child of two impossibly willful individuals as Obi-Wan was.

Warm, lovely, and infinitely more upbeat than anything we'll ever get as a canon endgame.
But Jon needn’t have worried so. A sennight and a day after sending his raven, he received a prompt reply from Sansa. There was no greeting or signature, just her seal and two words.

By turns funny and poignant, this story serves as an excellent companion to Squire. Superb character voices and interactions.
It was even a relief to hear a too-loud voice call him one day, "What do you know, it's Queenscove!" and turn around and see Cleon of Kennan. "You're alive. I thought for sure the Lioness would have torn you apart by now.""Shows what you know," Neal told him loftily. "She is obviously saving that as a Midwinter surprise. Unfortunately I plan for my Midwinter gift to her to be my absence."
"But that's what I was hoping for, for Midwinter," Cleon said, and tugged Neal's ear once he was close enough.
"A squire's first duty is to his knight master," Neal said. "Not to lumbering oafs they had the misfortune of meeting as pages."

Sansa and Tyrion meet again as adults and equals... and eventually become a power couple to be reckoned with. An ASOIAF fic with a Tyrion who resembles his show and fanon counterparts more than his book character.
As Tyrion and Sansa begin to take walks along the walls and in the gardens together, riding through the city together, dining together in the privacy of Tyrion's solar in the Tower of the Hand, sitting together at the feasts Dany and Aegon host at least twice a week, people begin to remember that they were, in fact, married.
Aegon raises the matter in jest during a council meeting, and Tyrion informs him that no, they were not married, that they are married.
[...] Silence greets his calm announcement, everyone present realising that between them, Sansa and Tyrion have claim to all of Dany's kingdom aside from the lands in the south – and everyone knows that the Tyrells are Tyrion's because he saved the beautiful Ser Loras from dragon-fire, the Stormlanders the same because it was he who begged the Queen to be merciful to Shireen, Stannis' daughter and the last Baratheon in the realm. It is a marriage that can't be allowed to stand, that shouldn't be allowed to stand, that- -

“You understand, Professor,” Harry began, after a moment, “that I don’t have my N.E.W.T.s. I never even finished seventh year. Between everything, I never had a chance the first time around, and then afterwards there didn’t seem to be much point. Hermione argued for it, of course, but I was so tired of Britain. So technically, I am completely unqualified for the position.”
“Quite a way to begin an interview, Mr. Potter,” McGonagall said, dryly.
Or, three years after the war, Harry Potter becomes Hogwarts' newest Defense Against the Dark Arts professor.

Are you here to give me detention?” A smile flitted around the edges of his mouth as he struggled to keep a straight face.
“Certainly not, Professor Potter,” McGonagall answered primly. “Though if you think you are teaching chess you’re sorely mistaken. He’ll have you in three moves.”

Bittersweet and evocative. Padme lives, she mourns and she rages, and she raises her children with the aid of a small circle of friends and family.
She turns her gaze to Palpatine, whose delight is obscene, badly-hidden behind his mask of concern. “Get him out of my home. I will not speak with a man who murdered children in cold blood. Who did irreparable harm to me, and to his—his own unborn—get him out. Take him with you and go.”
“My dear—” Palpatine begins, but she is past caring, she is past rational thought, she has gone beyond the threshold of anger into some pure white country, cold and absolute.
“Leave, Emperor,” Padmé Amidala says. “And take your Sith pet with you.”

Anakin conducts a survey in the Temple for an ethics assignment and realizes how imperfect the Order's modus operandi is when it comes to structural oppression... and where his personal breaking point lies. Thoughtful, painful, and compelling.
"You thought that the Jedi helped everyone," Obi-Wan said, quiet.
"Yeah," Anakin muttered. "That. And I know why they can't, I mean… I know there's only so many Jedi and that the work never ends and there are thousands and thousands of worlds always in need of Jedi assistance, there are huge, huge issues the Jedi need to handle and… and in the grand scheme of things I know a little back water planet like Tatooine, it doesn't really matter in the galactic scheme of things. So in a way I get where everyone was coming from, when they were telling me off. When they were telling me to concentrate on the bigger picture. But…" -

Sweet and faintly melancholy, with excellent character voices and a satisfying slow burn relationship. (Also, budding matchmakers Merry and Pippin are a thing of delight.)
“I am yours to command,” Legolas said, smiling faintly, “and where you go, I will go, even into the heart of the mountain.”
But where you will go, I cannot follow, came the thought, and a swell of bitter grief came with it that Gimli tried hard to suppress. Why spoil the wonder of the caves with regret, or what brief time they had left with the knowledge of what would come after?
