Genuinely just really good, CPK! is such a good movie that allows for so many different interpretations to the timeskip and the ending and I just think this fic series does a really nice job at filling in those moments that we don't see.

Mind slow and viscous, he blinks at it. He knows the crack. Knows, too, the faint water stain near the vent and the way morning light catches in the uneven paint beside wall, turning old white into something tired and yellowed.
Then a face leans into view. Pale skin dusted with freckles. Bright green eyes that have looked at him thousands of times before. Auburn hair cut short, burning copper where the sun catches it.
In that moment, Derek forgets how to breathe and for that same span his mind gives him nothing until it does.
