(Avatar: The Last Airebender Avatar Zuko AU)
The Avatar Cycle is said to have been broken at the begining of the Hundered-Year-War whenever the last Avatar died trying to protect the Airbenders from being slaughtered. People have lost hope for world peace as the Firenation rages on.
Zuko, however, is convinced that the Avatar does exist as he had spent the past few years searching to no avail. Only during a terrifying tropical storm does he come to a shocking realization that his theory was correct all along.

Zuko stared up at him with his large, gold eye. “How are you on the Sovereign then? We’re just barely out of Fire Nation Waters, you know.”
It was a perfectly reasonable question, Zuko thought, but the expression on the man’s face switched from constipated to ashy, so he must have said something wrong. “I’m so not doing this right now.” The man muttered before bellowing. “Hakoda! Get your scrawny ass over here and handle this!”
“That’s a naughty word.” Zuko pointed out, squirming uncomfortably in the man’s grip. “Can you please put me down now?” This whole adventure had already managed to go spectacularly sideways.

Succession is always an uncertainty. For now, Zuko remains Crown Prince, but if Azula presents as an Alpha then the crown will go to her. If she is not an Alpha, or dies before begetting an heir like her cousin Lu Ten... then it will be Zuko who will rule. This presents a problem for Ozai. Zuko is an Omega and his Alpha husband may seize power away from his son if Ozai does not choose carefully. A Fire Nation Alpha will likely have too many connections and enough legal standing to give them plenty of opportunity to take the throne, so Ozai looks to those he has conquered and finds a mate for Zuko in the son of the Southern Water Tribe's chief.

The truth is as obvious as the cloying scent in the air. Zuko found out Aang is alive and decided it was the perfect opportunity to revive the time honored hobby of chasing them across the world.

His father was sure he wouldn't survive long, but he's made it to 16, and he's joined Team Avatar. However, old habits die hard--can he still keep the flowers secret from them now that he's living with them?
One day is particularly worse than the others. Zuko has a flare-up.
Important notes: it's complete! it has a HAPPY ending! nobody dies! I was trying to use the concept of "flowers for unrequited love" without getting bogged down in crying about being forever alone. I repeat: HAPPY ENDING

“Um, no. Not really.” Zuko sighed, pulling his leg up into a quadricep stretch.
“Awe, not a fan of the new vigilante, Zuko?” Mai deadpanned, blowing a strand of hair from her face.
“I don’t know, why should I care about some random guy trying to get himself killed? It’s not like one person can do enough to make a difference.”
“You know what I always love about you, Zuko?” Sokka stood, bouncing on the balls of his feet and grinning as he stretched his arms. “You always look on the bright side.”
“Practically a ray of sunshine.” Mai chimed in.
“Whatever. Hard to be disappointed if you don’t look forward to anything.”
