Dukat smiled at her. "Well, I see you're busy with your art again. How about we have that celebration I mentioned tomorrow night? Now that things have calmed down a little again I'm sure nobody would have any scruples attending a more joyful occasion."
"I suppose we all could use some distraction," Ziyal mused and got up to sit on her bed. Dukat followed suit, examining her sketches with an unreadable expression.
"It will likely take some convincing to get Major Kira to join us, but I'm sure she wouldn't want to miss it for your sake. An exhibition in the Cardassian Institute of Art is an impressive feat. I hope you don't mind if I invite some of my higher-ranking officers too - they should get a chance to enjoy themselves from time to time."
This wasn't a new thing. Her father loved gathering his loyal troops around him at every opportunity to either show off his generosity, himself, or more recently: Ziyal. She didn't particularly mind, although she felt a bit more inhibited when Dukat made her the center of attention.
Now, the focus would be on her accomplishments instead, which was much less intimidating and even somewhat exciting.

“I thought for sure someone told him you were coming back on the Sitak,” Miles said.
“I did. But maybe he just didn’t want to run into all these Vulcans.” A passing Sitak officer shot a cool, disapproving glance at Dax.
“He’s probably in your quarters,” Miles said with a shrug. “He’s barely left it since we got back. I don’t think Starbase life really agrees with him.”

Damar seemed slightly taken aback, or maybe just disgruntled at being spoken to so harshly. "Just go to bed, Ziyal. I'm sure none of your little friends would appreciate it if you showed up at Quark's with me in tow."
Ziyal puffed up her cheeks, then swiftly stepped past Damar. "Oh, I bet."
Damar was obviously caught off-guard by that - he clearly had anticipated for her to acquiesce and simply go to bed so they wouldn't have to spend time with each other. She supposed it was only fair that if she had to suffer from her father's poor choices, so did Damar.
