All Cody wanted from the Jedi was a competent, fair general; so that he could focus on keeping his men safe, and maybe trying to live up to the name Jango Fett had bestowed on him.
Nothing could have prepared him for Kenobi save for the experience itself: crashing across the galaxy, from caf-and-stims-fueled battlefield highs down to heady fluorescent ship-side lows.
But then, he supposes, this war had a habit of exceeding his expectations, in all the best and worst ways. This is that story through Cody's eyes.

Obi-Wan didn’t come back with him. Once again, he is without a Padawan.
The moment cool durasteel meets his fingertips, the overwhelming presence of Obi-Wan slams into him so hard the room begins to spin. Qui-Gon sinks to the floor, saber clutched in both hands and pressed tight against his chest as though it’s actually Obi-Wan he’s hugging.

He had been at an interesting curve at the top of the double doors, his eyes straining upwards since he’d kept his head completely level, when it fell away to reveal a young woman dressed in the agency’s clerk uniform on the other side.
Appropriately, she shrieked. “S–sir! What are you doing? Please, don’t! This is not—”
“I want to talk to Dazai Osamu. Bring him to me, or I’ll pull the trigger.” His hand was trembling, but he pushed the handgun harder into his own temple regardless.
Her eyes were wide-open, showcasing the electric blue color that matched with her stunned expression. She nodded, taking a small step backwards into the lobby. “It— It’ll be a moment, sir.”
“I’ll be waiting,” he said, straining to keep his voice level. Normally, he would never wait for Dazai like a loyal dog. Yet most of the time, it was Dazai who was holding the gun to his own head. Suicide wasn’t really Chuuya’s thing, but he supposed there was a first time for everything.
Or; Chuuya shows up at the Armed Detective Agency threatening suicide under the pretense of taking a walk with a suicidal maniac. Yet somehow, no one ends up committing suicide.

The room fell silent, the weight of Dazai’s confession hanging in the air. Chuuya’s mind was awash with conflicting thoughts and emotions, struggling to reconcile the image of Dazai he had always known with the person sitting before him now.
Chuuya looked at Dazai, his expression conflicted but his voice steady. “I don’t feel the same,” Chuuya’s voice trembled slightly as he uttered the words, “I hate you.”

When Dazai Osamu first appeared on the agency’s doorstep with an incomplete application and a halfhearted recommendation, Ranpo’s first impression was ‘kill it with fire.’
His second thought was ‘it can’t join the agency.’ Much like a stray cat, Ranpo could see in the thing’s desperate, starved eyes that if it were given a scrap of affection, it would curl up in the nearest sunny spot and never leave. He didn’t need his (an) ability to see that.

It’s been a little more than a month since everything almost went to shit, since the Armed Detective Agency and Port Mafia faced off against Dostoyevsky, since Yokohama almost lost its fragile, balanced peace.
And it’s also been just about a month since Ranpo emerged from Poe’s book, all pride and glowing accomplishment for solving 500 murders in a week, and just a passing comment about the other guy losing patience and starting punching people.

Chuuya emerges from Poe's book, exhausted, to discover that Dazai has been severely injured. Standing guard in the Agency's infirmary, Yosano, Kunikida, and Chuuya find unexpected common cause in their desire to keep Dazai in one piece despite his best efforts to hide his vulnerabilities from everyone around him.

“Wait,” he grounds out, gaze darting back to Dazai as the rest of the sentence registers. “You’re hurt?”
“Astute observation,” Dazai drawls, rolling his eyes.
“Shut up, shithead,” Chuuya barks, “what happened?”
“Chuuya crushed me like the tiny cannonball he is,” Dazai says, making a pinching motion with his fingers. Chuuya slaps the hand away, growling.
“Fine, fine.” Dazai sighs. “A piece of rubble fell on it. It’s just fractured. I’ll live, unfortunately.”
Chuuya eyes him critically. “Any other injuries?”
“Average cuts and bruises,” Dazai dismisses, “now lay back down, slug. I’m not finished.” He waves the roll of gauze in his hand around impatiently.
“Fuck’s sake,” Chuuya hisses, doing the exact opposite and sitting up fully. At Dazai’s dry and unimpressed look, he adds, “I’m fine. You lay down, bastard.”
Or: 5 times Chuuya (begrudgingly, okay?!) takes care of Dazai and the 1 time Dazai returns the favour.
