Summary
“Query: why does the Terran attempt to protect Megatron?” Soundwave questioned her. “Twitch Malto does not know Megatron. The real Megatron.”
“Because he is Mum’s friend!” Twitch snapped back at the Audiobot. “Because he is my friend! Don’t act like you know him!”
Soundwave was silent for a long moment. He was silent for so long that Twitch began to think he had slipped into some weird stasis but Soundwave responded to her accusation abruptly.
“Soundwave thought he knew Megatron,” he replied and Twitch swore that the Decepticon sounded bitter, hurt even. “Soundwave did not.”

A chance encounter with Soundwave leaves Megatron in a serious condition, his mind shattered and trapped in his past as D16. With Ratchet on Cybertron, his only hope to ever recover is the illusive Knock-Out who disappeared after defecting from the Decepticons years before the war ended. Someone who only Megatron himself could find.
Deep scars begin to be reopened as the consequences of a foolish and rash decision.

“I don’t know why I’m still trying to get through to you after all these vorns,” Optimus muttered bitterly to himself as he stared at the image of Megatronus Prime’s face in the centre of the Decepticon Warlord’s chest. “Everyone else who knew us back then has given up on you. But for some reason, I still haven’t.”
He reached out and gently brushed his digits against the Decepticon Insignia, his spark sinking at remembering how it had come to be. How they had come to be. He felt the powerful T-cog of Megatronus Prime whirring and shifting within his old friend’s chassis.
“Why haven’t I given up on you, Dee?” Optimus Prime asked himself under his breath.

Summary
“I agree that you are irredeemable, you have done things that should not and will never be forgiven,” Optimus stated firmly, looking down at Megatron. “I might be optimistic as is my designation, but I am not stupid Megatron.”
Megatron stared at him dumbfounded. Was the Prime actually serious? Has his processor finally blown?
“Then why are you offering me a second chance, you utter gasket case?” The Decepticon Warlord growled at him, sharp fangs bared.
“Because I want to give you a chance to atone for what you have done,” The Prime stressed on the word, atone, carefully. “There’s a difference.”

“It’s unrealistic,” Megatron argues. “Thundercracker’s talent is above this garbage. It’s the same with those fanfictions Knockout sends me. These writers are talented- well some of them are, yet their talent is wasted on nonsense!”
Optimus is puzzled. Fanfiction? He’s never heard of that term before. Was it a genre?
“What’s fanfiction?” He asks Megatron innocently and the ex-warlord’s face goes slack as if the Prime just punched him in the face. Hard.

Perhaps the broken halves fight for dominance in the frame. The winner shutting the other out. The host left unaware.
But this story isn’t about the winning half of the spark. The one that won the war. No.
This is about the half that lost.

Megatron enjoys his new life with the Autobots and without the leash of G.H.O.S.T. over his helm. Or so he tells himself and everyone who asks. But he has to admit that after 16 years he stills feel out of place.
In a place where everyone has a reason to fear you it’s hard to find comfort.
The only one seems to bring him some relief to his battle with his thoughts is his past arch nemesis.
