Franziska has been dating Maya for a while now. Thanks to her, and what time has taught her, she has gradually managed to detach herself more from the perfectionist mindset of the Von Karma legacy. However, what she knows and what her body knows are different, and abandoning years of masks and perfect victories is harder than it seems, especially now that she wants to protect Maya from those ghosts.

Maya’s always been sort of fascinated by the way that Franziska says people’s names; she makes each syllable sound as grave and important as the last, as if ‘worth’ is load-bearing, as sharp as ‘edge’ and as long as ‘miles’, and if she closes her mouth around the end of ‘feen’ it becomes a kind of villain, just like how ‘nick’ on Franziska’s tongue becomes name and wound and the beginning of a firm no, and ‘wright’ isn’t just a direction, but a state of being that she’s always striving for.

Now that she possessed complete heavenly restriction, her abilities had evolved, and she discovered that she was actually the half capable of seeing soulmarks, but her partial heavenly restriction was interfering with that.
Her entire life was changing faster than she could keep up with. She could very well just ignore this soulmark thing and try to leave it for the future... But, to complicate the situation a little more, Maki had a pretty good idea of whom her other half was, and now all she needed was a simple eye contact to confirm her suspicions.

Shoko can't stand many things, but these three are worth mentioning: the hassle of life, working with other people and herself. It's only natural that none of the project she has to sign up for as a second-year allow her to avoid all of these things.
The star athlete of their school, Utahime, is the only one with a project where Shoko doesn't need to interact with anyone. Self-discovery. She doesn't need to get to know herself either, she can simply cheat.
It's the best course of action, so Shoko signs her name on the list of participants, quickly realizing she's the only one.
Utahime desperately needs her only participant to admit that the project is genius, and Shoko finds a little too much fun in cooling down Utahime's enthusiasm.
Before Shoko knows it, she's wishing Utahime was interested in her not only because of the project. Also that she's never signed up for the project that forces her to look into the place she wishes she could somehow escape - her own mind.

Instead of the pink couch of the defendant lobby, there was a purple one. The painting on the wall was different. There were no potted plants. In her tired, dazed state, Maya had stumbled into the prosecutor lobby.
