Then his human died.
He waited for him anyway.
Somewhere else, much later—or perhaps much earlier—Shen Yuan calls for Jiu-er again.

Summary
What if Li Yitian hadn't let go of Xiao Zhan's wrist?
What if, for once, he'd finally understood what his assistant had been trying to tell him all along?
And what if Shen Yuan discovered that some people had been paying considerably more attention to his acting than he'd anticipated?
A little missing scene from For Your Entertainment, featuring an alternative ending to the infamous office scene, an abundance of romantic metaphors, and one extremely unfortunate characterisation discussion.

Summary
A man—tall, refined, devastatingly handsome—met his dazed gaze with a gentle, unhurried smile.
“If Xiao Yuan agrees,” he said mildly, “a little company. Nothing nefarious. In return, Xiao Yuan gets the first male lead role.”
Shen Yuan stared, mind desperately trying to put this absurd situation into some kind of valid context. Was he being propositioned?
What company, you big-eyed wolf?
Do I look like an escort?!
“No,” Shen Yuan said sharply.
The man's smile froze. He actually had the audacity to look surprised.
Shen Yuan just died and somehow transmigrated into the chaotic world of a dog-blood entertainment industry novel.
Now he has to survive as a newbie actor, navigate contract requirements, learn acting asap, and avoid planting death flags—all that while definitely steering clear of the too invested CEO Yue Qingyuan and his White Moonlight slash childhood friend, Shen Jiu.
Maybe just kill me already...

Summary
"So what they say about divination is true."
"What is?"
"Those who divine the fate of others are blind to their own."
Xiang Fei is fairly certain he's been bullshitting for twenty-seven years and that, sooner or later, someone will finally catch on.
Somehow, that still hasn't happened—not even after he gained the name Xiang Qingfei, inherited Xuan Ji Peak, and became Cang Qiong Mountain's foremost diviner.
Unfortunately, Heaven keeps proving him right—and Shen Qingqiu, after years of trying to discover exactly how Xiang Qingfei knows things he shouldn't, eventually decides to test the limits of his famed insight personally.

Summary
There were several things Shen Yuan knew with absolute certainty.
Shen Jiu wanted him. Shen Jiu had chosen him. Liu Mingyan had no romantic interest in Shen Jiu whatsoever, and Shen Jiu returned that lack of interest completely.
Unfortunately, none of these facts prevented Liu Mingyan from being useful, human, eligible, and currently bent over Shen Jiu's desk discussing their shared future.
Well.
His future.
Academia, Shen Yuan was discovering, was significantly more dangerous than advertised.

Summary
That was what stories did. One event led to another. A chapter ended because the next chapter existed. Even suffering had shape when it belonged to an arc.
But Shen Yuan had been placed somewhere outside the pages.
Shen Yuan wakes as Xin Mo in the Endless Abyss, without a body, without any way to move, and without the slightest idea of when in the story he has arrived.
But that is all right.
He knows how this part goes.
Eventually, Luo Binghe will come.
All Shen Yuan has to do is wait.

“There is nothing in this house more important than you.”
Qiu Haitang's body remembers.
It knows how to lower its eyes, how to smile at its gege, how to blush at the name Shen Jiu. Shen Yuan remembers none of it.
He remembers only the story's ending: the Qiu household destroyed, its surviving daughter standing before Shen Qingqiu with hatred years in the making.
Now Shen Yuan is living inside everything the novel neglected to tell him.

Summary
''Was A-Yuan hoping,'' Shen Qingqiu asked softly, watching his face for the slightest change, ''that Qi-ge might come here again and try to help?''
The title left his mouth without the slightest alteration in tone, polished smooth by decades of habit. Only Shen Qingqiu knew how unpleasant it tasted.
Shen Yuan’s breath caught.
Shen Yuan would do almost anything Shen Qingqiu asked of him.
The trouble is that Shen Qingqiu remembers a time when they loved each other just as much, and love still wasn't enough to keep A-Yuan with him.
He has no intention of trusting almost twice.

Summary
"And what do we have here?"
Luo Binghe’s eyes snapped open.
For several seconds, he could only feel his throat closing as he tried to regulate his breathing.
A weight held his hips against the mattress. Another pressed his forearms into the bedding beside his head, although his waking mind could not immediately make sense of the shape above him.
Tianlang-jun had come to Huan Hua Palace looking for revenge.
Finding a son instead was merely the first surprise of the night.

"Yes."
"Then act like one. You live here now."
Shen Jiu gives Shen Yuan a room, food, privacy and absolutely no inappropriate attention whatsoever.
Shen Yuan, after careful consideration, concludes that his supposedly perverted uncle is simply too considerate to take advantage of him.

“Don’t go to Jisan Village, Shen Yuan.”

But Jisan has been waiting for a Shen to come home.

Summary
“I’m Shen Yuan,” he said, because it felt rude not to offer something in return. He tipped his head toward the back table. “And that’s Shen Tang.”
“Charmed,” Shen Jiu drawled.
He did not sound so. He sounded like he had found a new category of nuisance and was deciding whether to file Shen Yuan under it permanently.
“Are you always this welcoming to new customers?”
“Only the ones I suspect of being stalking, controlling weirdos.”
“Good to know I’m special.”
Shen Jiu’s mouth twitched.

Shen Yuan’s romcom adventure begins with sibling blackmail, tea he did not ask for, and crochet he definitely did not agree to. It might have stayed that way, too, if not for a certain prickly, unfairly cute teahouse owner who kept giving him reasons to come back.

Summary
“You'll live, Shen Yuan.”
Full name, huh? He knew Er-ge would be
devastatedfurious when he found his body.“If only you weren’t so stubborn—” the frustration was clear, even as the man stepped away for a second, the sounds no longer muffled.
I know.
I’m sorry.
“I wouldn’t have to—” a muffled curse, clothes rustling.
Liquid forced its way down his throat, making him cough; a cold hand pressed on his chest, keeping him down, barely cool enough to delay the fire starting in his veins.
What—no, no, no—
“Breathe.”
Alternatively: Take Shen Yuan from Correcting Deviations and Temporary Misalignment, drop him into a new body in a world where a different Shen Qingqiu already exists—one who remembers the Original Goods—and watch whether Shen Yuan swims or sinks.
You don’t need to read the two previous works for this one, but it helps with themes and emotional context.

“Does bonding with you mean you’re mine?” he asked with nearly a childlike wonder.
Gasps erupted behind them.
Familiars did not speak aloud.
Shen Jiu ignored everyone else completely.
“It means you're mine,” he corrected coolly.
The creature’s eyes narrowed pleasantly.
“Ah,” it said softly. “That works too.”
Shen Jiu wants a powerful familiar. An intelligent familiar. A familiar worthy of the Academy's top student.
What he gets is Shen Yuan.
Or:
Shen Jiu accidentally summons an eldritch horror with the personality of an affectionate cat and discovers that everyone else's survival instincts are dramatically overdeveloped.

Summary
He stares at the familiar-looking ceiling. The whirl of electric fan loud in the apartment, a plate with mantou on his desk that he can see from his position of laying on the floor.
“…No way,” he whispers.
He sits up too fast. His head spins.
It is his room.
His real room.
Laptop. Desk. Bookshelves. The same cracked mug he refused to throw away. His hands—normal. Slightly shorter fingers, skin a tone or two darker, that one mole on the inside of his left palm. No robes. No sword. No System window.
“…Hello?” he tries.
Nothing. Silence.
Then—
A laugh bubbles up.

“I’m serious!” Shen Yuan continued, warming to the idea immediately. “You’ve got the whole vibe down. The calm, the posture, the ‘I could sentence you to death but I’m feeling merciful today’ expression.”
The man leaned back, thinking harder.
“Maybe a scholar type,” he mused aloud. “Though if you were in that novel you'd probably end up the antagonist.”
He wrinkled his nose.
“And let me tell you—nobody wants to be Shen Qingqiu.”
