Summary

Essentially a combination rewrite and sequel to my earlier work, Siren Song!
Merlin and Arthur set out on a voyage to hunt down a siren that has been terrorizing a neighboring kingdom. They discover that they are the only ones unaffected by the siren’s song, causing a medley of chaos, self doubt, and confusion; all things must come to light in the end.

Summary
He can't help how embarrassed he sounds as he tries to hide himself in the pillow, and Viktor's laugh is so lovely - and so helpless, so blatantly in love - that it has Yuuri squirming all over again, the wave of protectiveness stealing his breath away.
Oh, Viktor.
"I suppose that's fair, darling. I am pretty incorrigible."
He's smiling, as he says it, and his voice is light, but Yuuri knows better, now. He can hear that tiny, barely there, desperately hidden thread of self-doubt, as clearly as if Viktor were shouting it.
Am I too much?
Viktor doesn't need to say it for Yuuri to hear it. He's pretty sure Viktor's spent too long feeling like he's too much of something - too loud, too clingy, too needy - for him to just shrug it off.
Yuuri knows a little bit about self-esteem. He knows a little bit about trying to kick years of fucked up thinking. And he's damn well going to keep making sure that Viktor knows he can always be as too much as he wants to be.

Harsh lights and loud music is replaced by a warm, yellow glow radiating through paper lampshades. Even here, so high up in the darkened sky, the bustle of Barcelona below can still be heard, the pleasant, vibrant hum of the city deceptively ordinary. Suits are thrown haphazardly over carefully laid costumes, left to wrinkle throughout the night, and the smell of alcohol and victory is replaced by hotel shampoo and minty toothpaste as they crawl into bed, exhausted but together at the end of the journey. Victor’s arms are wound gently around Yuuri’s waist, chest pressed against his back, chin resting against the mop of messy black hair.
Yuuri opens his eyes, already half-asleep, and blinks blearily. “Hmm?”

As though you yourself”—he placed a slightly sharper emphasis on the last word—“are worth nothing.”
“So you would have preferred it if I saved all of this for just one person?” Gwayne’s old boldness returned to his voice, though it was thinner now, more cautious. His eyes narrowed, clearly intent on making Ormund just as uncomfortable.
He had hoped to back Gwayne into a corner, but, foolishly, he had failed to consider that he could just as easily find himself trapped there with him.

Viktor’s tongue felt heavy in his mouth, and he cringed, inwardly, at how stiff and wooden he sounded. He swallowed, feeling parched.
“It’s happened more than once…people telling me they’re interested in learning about the things that I’m interested in, but it turns out they never actually meant it.”
He wondered if Yuuri could hear what he was deliberately leaving unsaid: they were only interested in the version of me they’d created in their heads. You told me you wanted me to be myself, Yuuri, but what if the real me disappoints you, annoys you, exhausts you?
Or worse: what if I have no idea who the real me is?
He hesitated, realizing how fleeting his bravery from just moments earlier had been.
“I’m sorry, I know that’s not a great explanation, but– ”
“It’s ok!”
Yuuri cut him off, leaning slightly forwards with both of his hands on the table. His gaze was piercing, and Viktor almost shivered, feeling far too exposed. But the softness in Yuuri’s next words made his unease ebb away, replacing it with something steady and calming.
