It was getting harder and harder to run. Another ravine, high thickets, a scattering of stones underfoot, damp slippery ground, the smell of wet grass, trembling in his body, Alfred's voice, the roar of pouring rain. Arthur sighed loudly and heavily, greedily gulping air when they fell together under some spreading bush, hiding in its thick wet thickets. His body was shaking violently, either from the strain or from the cold.
