Summary
Things weren't supposed to go this badly.
When Maverick is shot down protecting Rooster, Phoenix tries in vain to stop Bradshaw from going after him. Rooster disobeys orders and goes off on his own to save Maverick, pushing Phoenix to lead the team home by herself.
That is easier said than done with two Bandits on their tail. While trying to give the team a chance to get away Dagger Three suffers a fatal blow, forcing Phoenix and Bob to eject and abandon the aircraft.
Battered, bruised, and stuck in enemy territory, Phoenix must keep herself and an injured Bob safe until they can be rescued. But again, that is easier said than done. Surviving a violent ejection itself was no small miracle, but the two aren't out of the woods yet.
Before the night is over, they'll have to deal with a number of challenges - from the dangers of a hostile environment to the far more terrifying concept of emotional vulnerability.

A tangled the series fanfiction in which Varian is paying his dues for his crimes during the war of Old Corona. 8 months into the future, Varian is still rotting in prison, while Rapunzel harbors her own resentment towards the events that happened over half a year ago. Varian has to juggle being "dead" on legal paper, (His death was faked-ish) while also trying to avoid the Coronians.
Rapunzel has to balance being an acting-queen once again, while dealing with the betrayal of her best friend.
Eugene doesn't know whats going on, but he tries to be supportive.
