Tao sighs exasperatedly. “Does this straight Captain America know that Charlie’s a guy under all that?”
An awkward silence takes over the group after Tao’s statement. Nick stops chewing, Charlie, Elle and Darcy all glare at Tao, Emma and Imogen stare at Nick nervously. After a few seconds, Nick keeps chewing his bite before he swallows and sets his bowl down, reaching for one of his various carrier bags. Then he pulls out a small bi-coloured flag with a beaming smile, waving it a little. Everyone except Tao snorts, Charlie’s cheeks turning pink when Nick catches his eye.
“Good thing I’m not straight then,” he says in a lighthearted tone.

Summary
Nick gets hurt playing rugby (How original, I know) and we'll see how he struggles to heal, both physically and mentally.
We end up with an angsty Nick, who has to deal with some of his own insecurities and issues. He doesn't need to be taken care of, it's his job to take care of others. By the end, he will end up realizing that he needs other people (mainly Charlie) as much as they need him.
Basically, I kind of wanted to explore what it would be like if Nick was the more vulnerable or "hurt" one and Charlie gets to be the strong/badass guy we know he's gonna be some day.
There will be angst and drama, but there will 1000% be a happy ending. These two boys deserve it.
PS: The main story I wanted to tell is complete, but I'm not done here. I'm going to be writing various epilogue chapters, that jump ahead to various points in time, which will tie back to the main story.

Nick Nelson is a rugby prodigy, and he feels all the crushing weight of what that means. His future has never been his to choose, and he's always been okay with that if it meant making his father, rugby legend Stephane, proud. However, when a video of Nick and the boy who awakened his sexuality that Nick had purposefully kept dormant for years kissing is recorded and spread around campus, Nick's world is flipped on its axis. He's forced into a public outing he wasn't quite ready for and Nick is left to deal with the aftermath that leaves him with a lot of drama, hurt, and baggage that he’s not sure he ever wants to unpack. So, he swears off any distractions, closing the door on all of it - love and relationships and his desires to fulfill a part of himself no one else seems to want to accept. If it isn’t about rugby, if it isn’t about fulfilling his pre-determined destiny, he doesn’t entertain it. And it's all okay because all Nick wants for his last year of uni is to be someone his father can be proud of again. That is until he comes across one Charlie Spring.

The warehouse job may have been fairly brainless work, but it was enough money for Nick to afford his independence. The truth was, he felt completely fine. And if people assumed him to be an alpha, well, he didn’t like it, but at least no one was questioning him.
