Summary
A few feet away, a figure draped in a thin nightgown stands at the foot of the bed, hand resting against right beam of the bedpost as if to keep itself upright. Long, golden hair is spread across the floor, a makeshift trail that traces the few, unsteady steps the other had managed to take. The figure’s head raises, glassy eyes absently searching out Shadow Milk’s own; in spite of everything, Shadow Milk finds his lips twisting in a wry smile.
Such a pretty little thing, framed in his moonlight and shivering from the cold.
“My, my, what’s this?” Shadow Milk floats closer, holding out a hand as he tilts his head teasingly. “My dear Silly Vanilly - what are you doing out of bed?”

“Am I?”
“Yes,” Pure Vanilla said firmly, his gaze holding his with unwavering calm. “Because the truth is, what I’d lose without you… is far greater than anything else I could gain.”

He’d simply asked for them to eat together—it wasn’t that burdening of a request; it couldn’t have been. What mattered to him most was that Pure Vanilla ate, and leaving him alone every time he was given a meal didn’t seem to be an effective way of going about his healing process.
If anything, it felt like he had just gotten sicker.
His skin had shifted to an unsettling pale shade, like he had been freshly dusted by snow, and his melodic, calming voice now sounded constantly out of tune.
And, Shadow Milk couldn’t help but think it was his fault.
OR: Shadow Milk attempts to help his beloved through his struggles, ultimately failing and making things worse before they get better.

(A story about a sheep hybrid Pure Vanilla being traumatised by a wolf attack in his childhood and his journey through his life to continue healing.)

He paused.“And the golden lamb did not run.”

The Fool’s voice dropped low again.
“Until one day, a new sheep came to the garden. Her fur was silver, like the moonlight. The golden lamb fell in love with her. And the wolf... became jealous.”
“But,” he added quickly, “the silver lamb was kind. Sharp and funny. And over time, the wolf and she began to talk. Then laugh. Then understand one another.”
“The wolf realized his jealousy was foolish. The garden was meant for all hearts — not just his. In time, they all became friends.”
“And then they kissed and lived happily ever after!” Matcha declared, bouncing up with a grin.
(Basically a 7k-word slow-burn where Shadow Milk is dramatically pining over White Lily and Pure Vanilla meanwhile, the other two are just vibing, fully convinced they’re already in a relationship with him.)
