Summary
Shortly before beginning university, Merlin nearly drowns in Lake Avalon and is rescued as Arthur emerges from the depths after nearly 1,500 years. In the present age, magic is undergoing a chaotic rebirth, and the world is struggling with the implications. It wasn't firewood, Arthur realized. Merlin had a person laying in front of him.
Arthur crept forward, employing the stealth training he'd been taught since birth. He needed to get a better look at the person on the ground.
Sadly, stealth in the woods when you could hardly see the ground was not easy. Just as he got far enough to see Merlin's palm spread over the man's chest, a twig snapped under his foot.
Merlin whirled around and flew to his feet, raising his hands as if he had any sort of weapon to fight off an enemy. When he saw Arthur, he froze, staring at him like a spooked deer. His eyes were wide and panicked and… gold.
They were glowing gold.
Arthur stumbled back.

Arthur accidentally catches Merlin doing magic and everything from then on goes terribly.
