Summary
Dean is an elf in Santa's workshop, and he's not very good at it. Is it really his fault though if the gift assignments made by the workshop's new AI are so consistently awful? No wonder he's not meeting his quotas.
Unfortunately, the higher-ups don't see it his way. Dean gets demoted to the very bottom of the rung, the mailroom, where he soon discovers that things at Santa's workshop are even worse than he thought. With the help of his friend Charlie, his slightly uptight brother Sam and five-time Elf of the Year Castiel Novak, Dean brings to light a conspiracy that threatens the integrity of Christmas itself.

Summary

Summary

As much as Dean hates him for that, the longer he sticks around, the more he begins to threaten that first rule too. Dean’s been taught his whole life that those who play hockey should not be captivated by deep accented voices and the way a guy handles his stick, so how the hell is he supposed to justify what he’s starting to think about Cas? Summary

A string of strange disappearances catch the attention of Team Free Will. It’s business as usual, except the magic involved is volatile, and while they’re plus one Castiel, they’re minus one angel of the Lord. Trying his best and making everything worse, Dean just wants to get back to the bunker, where everything made more sense and Cas was actually talking to him.
But first they have a case to solve, and with things like “we need to be extremely careful” and “active threat” being thrown around, Dean really couldn’t have predicted that the main issue would be his keys to the Impala getting pinched out of existence.
Good thing he knows a guy with an exact copy.

It's a year out from rescuing Cas from the Empty (again), a year since Dean and Cas could finally have what they both wanted — but for Cas, it still doesn't feel like a happy ending. His grace is never going to be what it was once, and he is struggling to come to terms with it. He finds an interesting coping mechanism, tries to hide it, and finds out that Dean is no longer willing to accept any secrets between them.

Dean needs to be hurt to function, it isn't pretty but it is what it is, and he's put a lot of effort into constructing a system where he gets his needs met in a manner that is discreet, efficient and allows him to maintain appropriate emotional distance and mental acuity. Castiel fucks it all up.
