And then he remembers Gault, and her desire to become a dream, her dissatisfaction with being a nightmare. He remembers the agony etched on the Corinthian’s face in the last moments before Dream unmade him. And he thinks that, perhaps, he should heed Matthew’s warning.

Summary
The Corinthian was left sitting in the alley, blood drying on his hands. If all he had wanted was to be in the waking world, he had gotten it. He could run off to wreak havoc upon the world until Dream found him again, but it was never about that. Sometimes, he thought, we run just to be caught. He picked up the knife he had dropped.
“My lord,” he whispered into the silence, clutching the knife tight. “I’m coming.”
In which Dream decides not to be a total dick and the Corinthian decides to save him.

Summary
Spencer shows up to Emily’s funeral sluggish from a high. He grips flowers in his hands with too much force, and when tears stream down his cheeks, they bear his shame and his grief rolled into one.
At least it doesn’t hurt.
He was going to celebrate four years clean just a few weeks from now. He has no idea who he was going to celebrate it with, but he would have celebrated. April 12th would have been spent joyously, full of grief as he’s fully unable to forget Hankel, but celebrated because he had something under his belt.
Spencer relapses after four years clean, finds comfort in a bracelet, and makes peace with Emily.

The Corinthian brandishes his hurt and anger outwards, much like his knives. It is easier for him to kill than to care, he believes, and his three pairs of teeth only goes to prove that he is all bite. The Corinthian fights and teases the way he was created to do: stabbing his Lord Morpheus, Dream of the Endless, his Master, his King, through the hand with the cherished blade the god had given him eons ago. The nightmare relishes in his creator’s shock for a second, the pretty pale blue eyes of Dream’s more-human form wide and wet and red-rimmed.
“Look at me”, the Corinthian thinks, “finally look at me.”
