Summary
TK has worried, every time he’s called to the scene where a police officer has been injured, that the injured officer is going to be Carlos. He’s tended to officers many times before: car accidents, shootings, chemical leaks, concussions, strokes, heart attacks, and even a detective who went into premature labor.
He certainly never expected for it to happen like this.
Carlos is sitting up on a long vinyl couch, surrounded on all sides by several off-duty police officers in various states of inebriation. In front of him, a low table is covered in mostly-empty glasses of alcohol. Carlos has a feather boa around his neck, his curls are a mess, and even from halfway across the room TK can see glitter in it. He’s holding a bloody bar towel to his nose.
"Carlos?" Nancy exclaims, and Carlos’s head shoots up. When he sees TK, his eyes widen and he nearly drops the rag.
"TK?" Carlos says, voice stuffy and uneven, and several heads swivel in TK’s direction.

During the night of their bachelor parties TK gets a text from his husband to be only to realize his fiancé had texted him while drunk. cue, both TK and Carlos being very in love with each other until Lexi Mitchell sends him a photo of his drunk fiancé passed out.

“Mitchell just sent me a photo” he explained, turning his phone around to show them the photo of his drunk fiance who had fallen asleep with his phone in hand, and displaying the fact that he had zoomed in onto a recent photo of them that they had taken during a date, but it was zoomed in so only TK’s face was visible.
“And here we thought you were bad” Marjan laughed, eyes lit up in amusement. “Oh, shut up” TK scoffed before grinning back at her as he texted back Mitchell

Summary
It’s the sixth week after TK comes home–to their home–when he finally cracks.
He’s been doing much better lately. His breathing treatments are further apart and the doctors say it won’t be long before he can stop them entirely. He doesn’t get winded going for a walk to the little corner store with the amazing deli twice a week. He’s even able to do a passable weight lifting routine in the living room (nothing like his usual routine from when he was an active firefighter, but still it’s an accomplishment).
His doctor has even cleared him for light duty, his first shift of which is Monday.
But tonight is Friday, and TK is humming with an energy that has been making its presence known more explicitly with each passing day.

TK picks his new pet from his shoulder and settles him back into the box. He’s as sad as Carlos has ever seen him. It’s the look of loss. He is giving TK a reason to grieve.
“I just wanted to be honest with you,” Carlos goes on, glancing at the lizard with unexpected fondness. “And tell you that this may be the only child that we ever share.” He looks into TK’s beautiful eyes. “Together.”
There it is. The ‘out’.
This is the problem with saying how you feel, Carlos thinks. Once it’s said, it’s said, and there’s no hiding from your own words. You can’t take it back. It’s not like scribbling your feelings into a heart cut from pink paper, which you then ball up and throw into the trash before you make the horrific mistake of passing it to your seventh-grade crush.
It’s not like publishing anonymous love poetry in your high school newspaper and then flying under the radar when it sparks gossip in the hallways.Series

Summary
TK Strand and Carlos Reyes hooked up a few times when TK first moved to Austin, but the timing was terrible. After TK walked out on a romantic dinner Carlos prepared, Carlos arrested him a few days later during a bar fight. They couldn't stand to be in the same room with each other since. Now they're stuck together on a 96 hour car ride to pick up a prisoner in Colorado Springs, and bring him back to Austin. Despite their mutual disdain for each other, when an unexpected snowstorm hits, things start to heat up.

Summary
107 days since he had felt Carlos’s arms wrapped around him and it killed him every day he went without it. He missed the smell of Carlos’ cologne and how it always lingered after they hugged. He missed the feeling of Carlos kissing him awake, the way “good morning” always sounded extra special when it was coming from a sleep Carlos. He missed the way Carlos would make him feel safe and secure after a bad call. The way Carlos would look at him, soft eyes seeing right through him. But most of all he missed how he felt when he was with Carlos and how the world was made of colors again. Because without Carlos everything was gray and TK was just barely hanging on.

TK runs his finger along the delicate golden chain of Carlos’ cross necklace. “Did you really think I would be mad at you for not wanting kids?”
“No, but for not telling you,” Carlos replies almost immediately, but he inhales sharply, as he fidgets with the collar of TK’s dark blue t-shirt, letting his fingers graze his neck, “for letting you down. For not living up to your expectations.”
Carlos’ voice fades away as he speaks, becoming more and more quiet, and being only barely a whisper in the end. As if he hates the fact that he has to admit that. That he has majorly disappointed him by wanting a different thing.
