Reader is training to be an agent under Nat's tutelage. Nat turns her over to Bucky with specific training instructions. In her nervousness, she freezes and appears clumsy and inept with Buck giving her an honest appraisal of her skills at the moment. She resigns the next day and is then enticed to HYDRA unknowingly. What follows is eventually similar to the programming that Bucky received. She is rescued after a few attempts and now is effectively a prisoner in the Avengers Compound while Dr. Cho and others work to deprogram her and keep her out of sight of Zemo.

Reader was a captive of Hydra and rescued by the Avengers. Now she sees auras and can pull the colors to enhance or heighten the emotion attached to the color. Not having training or a handle on her gift, she hides in plain sight, meeting another resident of the Tower who does the same. Becoming friends with Bucky, then more than friends, she does everything she can to help him find himself again while training with Wanda to explore her powers.
She has worked to get Bucky a service dog and they are waiting for the rescue pup to finish some evaluations before Bucky can start training with her. Steve has gotten hurt, Hydra has developed a specific toxin that slows or nulifies Steves accelerated healing.
