Funny how Loki has made a decision without ulterior motive for the first time in his life and yet no one would believe he did it just because he could. No one asks, anyway. Not even Thor.

Summary
Inspire by rhodey's "for the last time" fic, please, please, please go read it! It's so good, and also this might not make a lot of sense without reading it first.
Loki leaves Stark Tower after realizing Tony had betrayed him and didn't return his feelings. He flees to Alfheim to find an old friend, deciding to leave Earth and Tony behind. Tony fears Loki's revenge after lying to him and accidentally making the god fall in love with him, still recovering from the Skrull attack. Thor is torn between his brother and his friend, whilst handling the duties of New Asgard following Ragnorok.
But eventually the Mad Titan draws closer and the Avengers need Loki's help to defeat Thanos.

He watched as the flames consumed his home, reducing everything he cherished to ashes, while the Grandmaster’s ship crumbled into oblivion.
He begged the Norns for a second chance as he clung onto his once-again-brother’s cold dead body, his cries for mercy swallowed by the inferno.
He wished, and when he opened his eyes back in his room in his long-destroyed home-land, six months after Loki’s fall into the void; he knew he had to change everything. He was given a second chance, and he wouldn’t live to regret it this time.

“The blood traces stop near the door.” the Spider asserted flatly after a few instants, provoking another short pause. Loki, at the exact words, told himself to cover his tracks better if something similar happened a second time, caught off guard or not.
“If he is still bleeding like that, he might not be far.”
Or, Loki left before the Avengers arrested him. It changes a lot of things.

Loki made a slight gesture with one hand, twisting his fingers, that were enclosed by a glowing green fog.
And suddenly the portal collapsed, accompanied by a swishing sound. The whirring of the machine slowed down until it finally stopped. No other light than the Tesseract itself was emitted now.
Tony blinked, utterly lost.
“Did you just switch off my wormhole?!”

Odin decided that the Tesseract is no longer safe in Asgard’s vaults, so Thor takes it back to earth until they find a better solution. But Tony can’t resist messing with it. I mean, who wouldn’t want to create portals?
And who would have thought it would open up to the incarcerated Trickster himself?As a new enemy threatens the universe, everyone is surprised, except for Loki, who had warned them. But who would believe the tales of a liar?
