Jordan stayed quiet, watching him, then frowned, far less discreetly than their mother ever would. When he finally seemed ready to speak, he stopped, hesitating, as if carefully weighing his next words.
“You’ll come to me, right? If there’s something wrong, I mean.”
He was messing everything up.
“…yeah. Yeah, sure. But you shouldn’t even have to worry about it, I’m fine.”

He will do everything in his power to be perfect, as to not bring shame onto his family name. He will be perfect, even if it destroys him.

Summary
Stiles coughs again, but he squeezes Peter’s hand, watches beneath heavy lashes as Peter risks their lives for one second before resuming his gaze back on the road. He takes a deep breath because it’s getting harder to stay afloat. “Mieczyslaw.” He manages in one go, a bit proud of himself for saying it so loudly and clearly. He’d had trouble with it in his youth, hence the birth of his nickname, but Peter wanted to know it, and Stiles wanted to tell him.
Peter scoffs, ending on a breathy chuckle. “What a mouthful.”
“Hey now-” Stiles coughs and leans over to spit again. His throat feels heavy, full of the blood that keeps rising from somewhere inside. One of the bullets moves in its wound, and Stiles’ breath hitches again. Peter absentmindedly shakes his hand, drawing Stiles’ attention back to him. “No flirting on my - my deathbed.” His voice is raspy, and it’s starting to hurt, talking. If he weren’t dying, Stiles would be laughing at that notion.

Summary
This is where he feels the heavy burden of his joints, feet firmly planting themselves on the ground just before the imposing stump. He wants to reach out to touch it but the air around him turns acrid. It burns at his skin, filling his mouth with a sour taste. It breaks his heart not to be near it, to feel it beneath his fingers. Yet, it keeps him at bay and he doesn't know why.
“What are you doing here?”
He whips around, finding an intruder - offended at the wolf catching him off guard. It stares at him, icy blue eyes just as calm and quiet and quizzical by nature. It strips away his self, vulnerability rising to the surface as if he were out here naked and exposed.

The sheriff watched him for a moment, then he sighed and turned slightly. He reached out to open a cabinet door beside him, and pulled out a shelf. It was on a track, so it rolled out of the cabinet fairly easily, and held a small CCTV. Derek frowned and inched his chair to the side a little bit so he could get a better angle.
He was looking at a teenager, or someone at least young enough to be the same age as Scott. He was sitting on a bed in what looked to be a larger room, the area he was in surrounded by four glass walls, with his legs crossed and head tilted.
He was also staring directly into the camera, as if he knew someone was watching. A creepy smile slowly slid onto the teen’s face, and he held up one hand, wiggling his fingers in a slow, eery wave.
Derek felt his mouth run dry. He didn’t know who this kid was, but he didn’t like him.
“Who is that?” he asked quietly.
“That,” said the sheriff, “is my son.”
